The Guardian Angel

Sixteen year old Caitlynn lost both her parents and her younger brother in a car accident. She has now been adopted by her aunt and uncle. She is looking forward to a hard life, but what happens when she meets Tedd, a kind but quite weird boy, and the mysterious Audrey, who tells her a story about different worlds, a kingdom, angels and God?

Note: I put the chapters up as pages - so each chapter is approximately one page in my Word document. AND, sorry for typos and mistakes - I rarely look back at it, so please forgive me.

“Please stay here… I am so scared right now…” my words were only just a whisper, but he heard it, and he walked over to me and pulled me into a hug that reminded me of the hugs my dad would give me.

Ted stayed for three hours, until I heard Stella’s car driving into the garage. Then I quickly followed him out the back door, and waved him goodbye. I didn’t tell Stella about what had happened - it just seemed too weird. As I lay in my bed later that evening, my legs felt like jelly. I was actually afraid to go to sleep - I’m afraid that I would have bad dreams, that something would attack me in my sleep. The roof squeaked, and I pulled my feet further up beneath me. My eyelids were getting heavy, but I just smacked them up once more. I couldn’t help but thinking about dark, winged beasts in the dark, just meters away from me. It scared the living shit out of me. Then my thoughts went to the nightmare last night. I thought of the woman in the dream, how she made me revive all those horrible things. I felt a knot forming in my stomach, just behind my navel. I roll into fetal position and stayed there for what felt like hours before I heard the roof squeak again. Then the windowsill outside squeaked. I pulled my cover over my head, squinting my eyes so hard that I saw lights exploding on the inside of my eyelids. Slowly, slowly, I heard the window open. I felt the blood pump through my veins as my heart speeded up, making so much noise that I was certain that whoever or, more likely, whatever was by the window, was sure to hear it and know that I was there and awake.

I lay as still as I possibly could, as a light tud was heard, and then the window closed again and I heard it being locked. Then the sound of steps, slowly coming towards my bed. It felt, if possible, like my heart started racing even more. When it sounded like the steps was about three meters away from my bed, I made a decision. In one smooth movement, I leapt up, turned on my nightlight and grabbed the 600 pages book lying on my nightstand. I looked at the room, and as I stood there, in my grey, oversize t-shirt which used to be my fathers, and my checkered green and blue pajama pants, my hair in a high ponytail, with a gigantic book raised above my head, ready to smack whatever had entered my safe cave under the roof, I saw a boy. And not just any boy, I saw a tall, slender boy with pure white hair, the lightest skin I had ever seen in my whole life, it was almost like it was glowing a soft white. His eyes shined hard green, and his face was made of sharp edges and strong cheekbones. It gave him a weird mixture between a very young boy and an old war veteran. He was dressed in a black t-shirt, white jeans and a dark blue leather jacket. But what freaked me out the most was the fact that behind him was to great things, covered in pure white, shining feathers. I had to blink a couple of times before I allowed myself to trust what I was seeing, then I opened my mouth to scream for Stella and James. Before I had gathered enough oxygen in my lungs, he was standing right before me, clamming his white, strong hand to my mouth, stopping any sound I would try to make, and at the same time keeping me from running, because I was going to fall on my bed if I moved backwards. I felt my eyes expend in pure fear. What the bloody hell was going on?
