The Guardian Angel

Sixteen year old Caitlynn lost both her parents and her younger brother in a car accident. She has now been adopted by her aunt and uncle. She is looking forward to a hard life, but what happens when she meets Tedd, a kind but quite weird boy, and the mysterious Audrey, who tells her a story about different worlds, a kingdom, angels and God?

Note: I put the chapters up as pages - so each chapter is approximately one page in my Word document. AND, sorry for typos and mistakes - I rarely look back at it, so please forgive me.

15. Page fifteen

“Woooow, easy girly!” said the guy I back into, but in a teasing voice, as if he had seen it coming. I turned around to face him, but as the sun shined directly into my eyes, I couldn’t see clearly who it is - just that his skin was way darker than mine and that he was at least two heads higher than me. He grabbed and steadied me as I tried to get an apology out, but the pain had taken the words away from me.  “You alright there?” he asked, still holding my arm to keep me from falling or backing into others. I still couldn’t get a single word out, so I just shook my head, and as it was the only movement I could make my body do, it became aggressive and I started shaking like a leaf. The pain was very slowly going away, and I felt the warmth of my face and I got dizzy. I stumbled to the side in a try to regain my balance, but instead of just staying on my feet, I began to fall, very slowly. But before I got far, the boy grabbed me tighter, holding me up. After a couple of seconds I was back to normal, though my ribs were still hurting.

“Thank you … sorry, it wasn’t on purpose…” I stuttered, and as the sun hid behind a dark cloud, his face came into view - I was right about the fact that his skin was dark, but then I saw that he was black, but not completely, he looked like the American kind of black. His hair was short, his eyes as dark as oil. He pulled me out of the crowd, gently, as if he was scared that I would faint completely. Out in the open, he looked even bigger. His shoulders had got to be almost twice mine, though he wasn’t really fat, nor was he skinny, but something in between.

“You sure you alright? You looked totally out of it just a sec ago,” he said, with actual worry in his voice. I nodded, didn’t really want to explain, but felt the need of it, since he really saved my ass.

“I was in a car crash two weeks ago, nothing serious happened to me, really, it’s just that my ribs got hurt pretty bad, so when that guy accidentally hit me…” I looked back at the crowd, which was now just chaos, before looking back at my savior. He nodded.

“You still look pretty shaky, man. You want me to follow you home? It’s no prob, really.” He asked, pure friendliness was marking his voice. I thought about it, because it would actually be quite nice to have someone with me the last part of the way, because my breathing was still troubled and I wouldn’t like to faint and be completely alone. Of course, he was a stranger, but even though I had only known him a minute, I liked him. So when he didn’t take his words back, I nodded.

“I’m Caitlynn. And thanks again, it’s really nice of you.”

“I’m Tedd. And hey, no prob man. It’s good to be nice to one ‘nother, right?” He smiled, and I couldn’t help but smile back - he was just one of those people that you can’t help but like immediately. I started walking and with his hands in his pockets, he followed me.
