The Guardian Angel

Sixteen year old Caitlynn lost both her parents and her younger brother in a car accident. She has now been adopted by her aunt and uncle. She is looking forward to a hard life, but what happens when she meets Tedd, a kind but quite weird boy, and the mysterious Audrey, who tells her a story about different worlds, a kingdom, angels and God?

Note: I put the chapters up as pages - so each chapter is approximately one page in my Word document. AND, sorry for typos and mistakes - I rarely look back at it, so please forgive me.

“Sorry about that… I don’t know what got into him…” I looked at the slender guy in front of me. His dark skin was covered in goosebumbs. Apparently, the cold that Audrey’s voice had not only affected me, but also him. He sat down on the chair again.

“That guy is scary as hell, girl. I didn’t do anything to hurt you, did I?” he asked, actually looking unsure.

“Of course you didn’t. I felt so good while I was sitting there, I actually fell asleep.” I couldn’t help but blush just a tiny bit. I had never tried sitting like that with a boy before. I hadn’t even had my first kiss yet. But it hadn’t felt awkward or we-are-dating-ish, just nice, because I had a friend who took care of me.

Tedds smiled at me, looking relieved.

Two hours went by before we heard a tap on the window. We had turned on the TV, seeing some reality show that was running. Tedd got up and went to the window. I had finally gained a normal body temperature, so I didn’t really want to leave the bed. From the window, Audrey emerged, nodding at Tedd.

“Sorry about before. I should not have reacted like that,” he said, his voice unsure. Tedd shot out his hand; Audrey flinched, but slowly reached out and took his hand, shaking it. They quickly broke away, and Audrey made his way to me.

“Zara will be here in twenty minutes. Stella and James just got home, so do not go downstairs. I just put a spell on your floor, preventing sounds going down to them.” He told me. I just nodded, not feeling like anything else was needed. I was still under the cover, but Tedd sat down on the chair next to the bed, clearly not wanting to do anything to make Audrey explode again. He looked awkward. Most likely at the thought of another of these mythological creatures entering his life. It was a little scary for me, too. I had no idea what this woman was going to be like. To prevent my thoughts from straying any further on the subject, I turned towards Audrey, who stood like a silent statue in the middle of the room.

“So. You told us about the other guardian angels magic powers, but we don’t really know what our own are. Can you please explain it to us?” I asked him, actually curious. He looked startled at me, like he had been very deep in his own thoughts.

“Tedds powers are like everyone else in his original worlds. It is hard to explain, but I’ll try. It somehow involves moving stuff with your mind, and there isn’t really much more to it than that. It has its limitations, but small objects like furniture and alike will be easy. But to uproot a tree and then move it is on the verge of impossible. It is manageable, though.” Audrey told us. I looked at Tedd in awe.
