6. Next day

I dragged my feet along the gravelled floor of the pavement trailing behind Rebecca who babbled on pointlessly about wastefulness things like the new science scheme and her favourite music artist. We finally reached school and I made up an excuse about having to check out the science scheme she beamed and went to meet Gail in the canteen, I asked her to tell Maggie and Liz I would be there soon. I turned the silent staircase when Hunter passed me shoving his shoulder against me, I toppled down the stairs and hit the cold floor, my books flying everywhere

"Hey!" I said rather aggressively. I pulled myself you, he hesitated and then opened his mouth to speak

"Sorry, I didn't mean to." He said and picked up some of my things, and then my book that was sandwiched between the maths and science books, my music book. I didn't realise what he was doing until he passed me the book, I watched his eyes softly and took it out of his hands

"You took of yesterday, before I could ask what happened." He said softly, eyeing my throbbing bruises on my face which I had mildly attempted to hide with make-up.

"Don't worry about me, Hunter." I said annoyed. He looked at me his blonde hair swept across his gentle face, my blonde hair covered my face and my glasses protected him from seeing the concern in my eyes

"I didn't, you just looked hurt." He said his words inconsiderate and made me blush.

"Don't worry then." I said irritated and turned away

"I saw your father last night." He said, I hesitated. I had known Hunter since I was twelve, ever since we moved here and my father used to work with his and he was my neighbour, although we were different we didn't mix the window that reached his was locked securely with a huge permanent blind. Some that I didn't want to change.

"He came knocking? Someone threw him out?" I said annoyed wanting to move the conversation on or just stop it.

"Nah, he wanted to say hi. Borrowed the phone." He finished. I watched him,

"You live?" I asked, he grinned

"28 Ascot Valley." He said, I blinked that was behind my mothers home. My behind mine. I blinked and watched him again

"You know I live opposite you?" He blushed and watched me and then titled his head into a fainting smile

"Yeah." He whispered. I stood up and grabbed my books off the floor

"My dads a jerk so ignore him and don't get nosy on my personal life, stay out of it." I said firmly and jumped up grabbing my stuff,

"Juliet." He said, I watched him it was unusual for him to say my name, yet it suited his lips, I turned around

"Yes?" I said irritably. He sighed and placed his hands behind his back and watched me carefully, as though he was studying me

"Nothing." He said and I confused, turned away praying not to see Elise.
