Guide to common birds in Greater London

I'm sorry that the area is so specific but I only really know about birds that me or someone else in my family have seen.
I doubt anyone will bother to read this but..... If you do and you know of another bird that I could add then please comment and tell me.

4. Long tailed tit (Aegithalos caudatus)

Description: The Long tailed tit has a mainly black back with red stripe on the wing. The head and breast are white with a pink tinge. These birds are most easily recognised by their tails which are longer than their  bodies. They usually gather in noisy groups of about 20 birds so are quite easy to spot when they are around.

Juveniles have much the same colouring but are darker with black heads and no pink tinge or red stripe.

Habitat: They can be found mainly in parks, gardens and woodland but also on heaths provided there is sufficient cover.

Status:LC (Least concerned)
