Broken Dreams

Written Autumn 2011

1. Broken Dreams

Even the biggest and most beautiful flowers must wilt.

A despairing young girl lays broken beneath her quilt,

Years of memories kept safely locked inside her heart,

A love she believed could never possibly break apart.

Now she feels abandoned; holding onto a seed of hope,

Wishing for the days when without her he could not cope,

When their love was strong and they dreamed of days to come,

The future a bright and exciting prospect to become

The very foundation of that girl's most important dreams.

What will become of these dreams she still holds dear? It seems

That they might all wash away like the tears streaked down her face.

Love is complicated and irrational, as delicate as lace.
