Sorry Mum, I'm a Lesbian

Harmony lives in a Catholic household in a Church of England society, and has never found it easy. But when she discovers she's a lesbian, she has to lead several different lives at once to cover up secrets that would make her friends and family ashamed. Her already complicated life starts getting harder to handle, so she asks herself: 'Would it hurt anyone to tell her sister?' She does, and that move gets her life spinning out of control. Can Harmony pull the right strings to untangle her knotted life?

14. Zoey's New Boyfriend

The next day, I thought I was the happiest girl alive. That soon changed. Me and Cassie skipped into the school, mentally hand in hand, feeling like new. And then I stopped dead in my tracks.

Zoey was having a snog with Robbie Sandring.

Zoey was straight.

My Zoey.

My heart broke in two and fell limply down to hell. I stood in silence. Then the devil came up, returned my burning, shrivelled heart and gave me a sharp poke in the bum.

I went mental.

I chucked three stones at Zoey, Emma and Robbie - I missed all three - and I stormed up to Zoey. I had a lot I wanted to say to her.

"How dare you abandon me, drag Emma down with you and then play tongue wrestling with Robbie?! How dare you disrespect me and spread dirty lies about me and my girlfriend Cassie? How dare you apply stereotypes to your 'ex-best friend' that don't make any sense? How dare you? How dare you? How dare you? How dare you?"

That was what I was going to say to Zoey.

This is what came out:

I could hear her once chirpy, true laughter cackle after me as I stormed into the bathroom, mimicking what had happened exactly two months ago.

"How dare you Zoey-Rae Fisher? How dare you?"
 dare you...
