The girl who stalked the corridors

All Alice wanted to do was work as a psychiatrist in a mental hospital, not end up in one as a patient. But as she gets more familiar with the daily routine she comes across the girl in the corridor and her most deadly horrors come to life but her insanity may not be the case, maybe she is sane after all..

6. Happiness.

I finally gained consciousness, my vision blurred as a worried face came into view. "Alice, Alice, Alice are you ok?" It was Nicholas. I seemed to be lying on some sort of bed in a room with white tiles and a chair. "yeah" I tried to sit up but Nicholas rested me down again. "Do you know what happened to you or do I need to explain?" He asked. "Yes I know what happened" I couldn't stop the frown appearing on my face, I remember very clearly what happened and I certainly did not want to remember. "Good do you need to rest?" Nicholas asked. "No thanks, I think I have had enough rest. What time is it?" I said. "It's three o'clock and nobody needs any of us here so why don't we take a walk somewhere, the park maybe? I want to get out of this place." He looked sad but happy at the same time, it was funny how he could mix his emotions and I could read them so well, read them like an open book. "Sounds great." A huge smile that I couldn't hide spread across my face, it honestly did sound great, it sounded perfect.

Once we were out of the hospital grounds we made our way to the park, a twenty minutes walk from the hospital. It was a nice day with blue sky and lots of birds around the greenery. We had both changed into our everyday clothes before leaving the hospital. "Isn't it beautiful here?" He said as we walked through a canopy of trees, he looked at me and smiled. He took my hand and we walked together silently our fingers entwined, taking in the beauty. We found a patch of grass to sit down and Nicholas bought us ice creams, strawberry flavor. It reminded me of my child hood, happy memories. Strawberry was always my favorite. "Thank you for this Nicholas, this has been amazing." I said, It had, it really had. My first feeling of happiness ever since that dark day my brother was killed. "Its no problem, I love it here, it is one of my favorite places, I come here when I am sad or angry or stressed, it helps me keep my head together, its nice sharing this place with someone." He said. He grabbed my hand and pulled me up. "Bet you can't catch me" He shouted as he ran away, he was laughing, he reminded me of a little boy, I chased after him, we laughed, we sang, we skipped, it was as if my world had changed into heaven, it was if I was happy again, having no fears or worries in the world.

We sat down out of breath laughing, once we had got our breath back and had stopped giggling he pulled me closer. He looked straight into my eyes and softly kissed my lips, they were warm and i could taste the ice cream that had once passed his lips, it was heavenly it sent sparks down my spine, it was as if I was dancing on the clouds, it was pure happiness and my first feeling of love. He held me close afterwards. " I love you Alice." He said, they were the only words that I needed to make me feel safe, the only words that would crush the fear of that girl, they were the words that protected me from any evil. I love him. We have each other now. That is everything to us, everything we need to get through.
