The girl who stalked the corridors

All Alice wanted to do was work as a psychiatrist in a mental hospital, not end up in one as a patient. But as she gets more familiar with the daily routine she comes across the girl in the corridor and her most deadly horrors come to life but her insanity may not be the case, maybe she is sane after all..

20. Freedom

The next few weeks were hell. For me and for Nicholas. It was as if Nicholas had some sort of disease. His body was falling apart and he was sure fighting The girl. Nicholas was discharged from the hospital proving himself sane but he was still suffering with The girl. They weren't medics, they didn't care. They just let him go with some strong antibiotics and morphine and that was that. It was easy for me. I managed to sneak out with Nicholas on a wheelchair easily. They thought I was dead.

It was strange to see my reflection again. My brown hair, green eyes, thin cheek bones. It was amazing having my normal human face and features back again. Nicholas smiles at me every morning and tells me how beautiful I look.

It was the morning we had left the hospital. It was amazing to get out, this place had ruined both of our lives. "Where do you want to go?" I asked Nicholas leaning over his wheelchair upside down. He pecked a kiss on my lips and I giggled. "Can, can you take me back to my house? I want to see my family it's been so long." he said, a sad look came across his eyes. "Sure." I said, I wasn't particularly pleased about this idea. I was an awkward shy person and meeting my boyfriend's parents sounded horrible.

It was a pleasant walk. Across the Tower bridge, through busy high streets and lush green parks, God I missed it. As I pushed Nicholas along I finally felt fully contented although I was extremely concerned about Nicholas. But I knew he could do it, I knew he could fight her.

We arrived outside his house. We didn't go in straight away, I could tell he was nervous. It was a nice house in the rich area of London, I was very impressed. "Nice house" I pointed out. "Yeah its okay. Look if I have any funny fits or pains or anything we'll tell my parents I have TB and I'm dying. At least then I won't have to see them ever again" he said looking up at his house in disgust. "um okay sure." I was confused on why Nicholas felt like this but I didn't want to ask questions.
