The Very Edge

Faye Rochals. She was a kid treated like an outsider. She was a bullied student at Dellmore High for Girls. By the time she gets into year 9, she thought she was normal. Finally the teen she hoped she'd become. But now she's on a bridge. Not an important place but right at the minute, it means everything.

4. The Cars

Can’t they see me? Why isn’t anybody stopping me from jumping?

Faye’s eyes scanned the cars that passed. Even though it was late night, it was still busy outside. But what else would you expect from Dellmore. It was the city to spend twilight hours whatever you liked doing.

They’re not even noticing me. They don’t care about me because they don’t know I’m here! What am I do-

Suddenly she caught glimpse of a small girl sitting in the back of a blue car. She was beautiful. Her eyes were diamonds and her face was perfectly shaped. She was bald.

Oh no. I’m throwing away MY life when she doesn’t have one to live! I’m as bad as them. Oh what am I doing?

That’s when the girl turned. Those bright blue eyes stared out of the windows and met Faye’s. This wasn’t coincidence. This wasn’t just a picturesque view, blocked by an invisible girl. She knew Faye was there.

As the car drove into the mists beyond the bridge, Faye tried to make sense of her life. Was this really what she wanted? Should she die? Things would be a little easier if she knew the answer herself…
