6. Reappearance

It was eight o’clock and the first guests were arriving.  Kat and Brooke were getting changed in the toilets whilst I (who had got changed earlier) greeted guests.  My dad was taking pictures of everyone as they came in; all looking fabulous.

I was really worried and not for the reasons you might suspect.  I had seen the glow again.  I saw it in the corner of the room and all of a sudden I started trembling.  However I was determined not to let it ruin my party.

As the guests walked in they instantly smiled as they saw Ghost getting ready on stage.  However I saw a worried look on Harry‘s (the guitarist) face.  I approached him and he confessed he couldn’t find his guitar.  Instantly I thought of the glow.  I turned to face it in the corner and it hadn’t moved and had no guitar but as I watched a red shiny guitar materialised next to it.  I went over and picked it up.  “Is this it?” I asked.  A look of amazement flew over his face.  “No, but it is one of the best guitars of all time!” Seeing the look on his face I hadn’t the heart to say that he couldn’t have it because I didn’t know whose it was.  “Consider it a thank you present.”  Seeing his face light up, I couldn’t help but smile.

I didn’t know why the glow had decided to show up, or why it decided to help me.  I didn’t want to contemplate it then but thought maybe that night I could find somewhere quiet to think (preferably not a place full of happy loud teens).  A lot of work had gone into the party and I was determined to make it worthwhile.

When everyone had arrived Ghost began playing.  Everyone forgot about Kat and I being outcast and we all soon began to have fun.

Kat, Brooke and I were all wearing the same dress n different colours.  Kat in red, Brooke in blue and I was in purple; we were all stunning.  We were wearing floaty dresses that were totally on trend.  We wore our hair down as we didn’t have time to do it in an up-do.

There were kids crowding round the drink stand holding plastic wine glasses that I brought from the 99p store.  People were laughing whilst dipping marshmallows in the chocolate fountain.  When the DJ put on the Macarena to give Ghost a break they joined all of us on the dance floor.

Eventually all the lights dimmed and Ghost started playing Happy Birthday.  I was shoved politely on stage where everyone joined in.  As my mum walked in with my colossal cake half of them stopped singing as they stared in wonder at the cake.  It was almost too good to eat yet when the song stopped we managed to yet only after I posed with the cake and Ghost for a picture.

The night was going so well and everyone was having so much fun.  My mum still hadn’t unveiled the scrumptious nibbles and out of the corner of my eye I saw Courtney heading towards them with a jar of salt in her hand.  A stab of pain went straight into my stomach.  How could anyone be so mean?  My mum had spent hours making those cakes perfection.  And now along comes Courtney ready to ruin them out of spite by making the ‘sugar coated’ cakes covered in salt!  As I headed towards her the glow was already ahead of me.  That was just too much for me and I fainted.

Turns out I missed all the action as when I was unconscious Courtney was concentrating so hard that her tongue was sticking out so when the glow knocked the salt away from the cakes a handful of salt went into her mouth and the rest on floor.  Of course she couldn’t explain to anyone because that would ruin her popularity so she just fled from the party.

When I came round it was Brooke who told me what had happened yet she didn’t realise what had caused Courtney to spill the salt.  I managed to persuade my mum that I was well enough to go back for the last half an hour of the party.

I partied so hard that by the end of the night I was shattered.  Luckily my mum and Brooke’s and Kat’s volunteered to clear up and Ghost took us home.

When I got home I thanked Ghost whole-heartedly for the wonderful night I had.  When I confessed that despite being shattered would never be able to fall asleep as I was still so full of adrenaline, they offered to sing me a lullaby until I fell asleep.  Of course that was an offer no one in their right mind would turn down so as I snuggled down into bed Ghost sang me a gentle song and before long I was fast asleep.
