As the city prepares the revolution, Gerard is torn between choosing to fight alongside his best friend or leave with the girl he just met.

25. The first battle: Ramin

I was ready for this. It was now or never. This was the moment we had been waiting for, the moment the people could have there say and escape the clutches of the Central. We were not going to be slaves anymore.
"Men! Ready yourselves. Don't let theme sence your fear. Wait for my signal then fire!" I took my position and loaded my rifle. "!"
The gunfire was deafening. The whole world was blanked out. I could here the screams of men arround me and I could see the blood. Then silence. I don't know how long the battle had lasted or if i was even alive. I checked myself for wounds and found only a cut along my face just missing my eye. I don't even remember doing it.
"Ramin. We did it. We defeated the first wave of men and we only lost two." Gerard was still alive and I was grateful. He was all I had.
Some injured men were being carried to the medical camp just inside the city. Some with bad wounds but still determined. Two men had died because if me today. I didn't even know them and they were only the first. How many more?
"Be ready for an attack. I don't think they will attack before night falls but be on your guard. The enemy are regrouping. Be prepared." that was all I could say. We just had to be ready.
