As the city prepares the revolution, Gerard is torn between choosing to fight alongside his best friend or leave with the girl he just met.

30. Home: Sierra

Gerard was distraught when he reached me. His handsome chocolate curls were a matted mess and his face was grey as stone. He needed me and I was here.
I embraced him and his wet cheek indicated he had been crying.
"Shh. It's ok it's all over."
He nodded and sobbed. I pulled him in tighter and kissed his forehead.
"I love you." I whispered
"I love you too."
"Gerard." I took hold of his warm hand and placed it on my already swollen stomach. He looked up in fear and shock. "It's real."
"Your.. I'm.. We.." he fumbled to find the words.
"Yes and you will be a great father."
"I love you." he kissed me. "and you will be a wonderful mother. And this will be our wonderful, brilliant baby." he kissed me again and placed his hand on my bump. He kissed it lightly. "Hello little one."
Tears filled my eyes. We could do this and we would together. No more battles needed fighting. No more hurt. Just me and him and our baby. A little family. A happy family.
The moment was broken by the entrance of Ramin.
"Gerard! They did it! They..." he looked at Gerard and then at me. "Con-congratulations." he winced in pain.
"Ramin. Why are you out? Your in no fit state." Gerard guided Ramin to a chair.
"Thank you. So tell me. When did this happen?"
"Not long ago."
"When I let you go?"
I shot a look at Gerard. He had been let go? He had gone to fight even though he was discharged?
"Sierra I-" he looked as though he was going to cry again. "I'm sorry."
I smiled at him and held him close.
"Its ok. All that matters is that your safe now."
"and we are all free." Ramin cut in.
"and we are all free."
