As the city prepares the revolution, Gerard is torn between choosing to fight alongside his best friend or leave with the girl he just met.

17. Conference: Ramin

"Ah! Gerard!" My best friend walked in somewhat nervous about talking to me. Gerard had never been scared to talk to me before. He was my best friend, my brother almost, we had grown up together.
"Hey, look if this is about my decision to fight then I'll do it. I'll fight for you and for Sierra because," he hesitated only to be interrupted by Hadley, who had just entered the room overhearing our conversation.
"Because he loves her." Hadley sounded like a schoolboy taking the mick.
"Hadley! Stop it!" we all turned to see Lauren standing in the doorway.
The door was stained and the wallpaper falling off the walls but this is where she and Hadley lived. This is where I lived with the others. This is where the rebellion was formed. In the run down end of the city.
"Lauren... I was only teasing." Hadley stuttered.
"Well don't if he loves her then, well I know how he feels. I know what it feels like to be in love. Except she loves him back. If only who I loved would open his eyes and see what was right in front of him."
"I'm sorry. Who is it? Because I love a girl who is close to me. She always has been and I was hoping she would love me too. Lauren?"
"Do you love me?"
"Haldey? Are you being serious?"
"Oh. I thought it was," Hadley was cut off as Lauren kissed him. His light brown curls falling as she touched his face. He touched her cheek with his hand and pulled away. "I will fight this battle for you Lauren. For our freedom. I love you. I always have."
"Glad we are all agreed then!" I break the mood and get back down to business. "We have a barricade to build."
