5. Trapdoor

The next thing that I remember was a the shock of a load of freezing water being dumped on my face. I woke up with a shock to see my Dad standing over me with a jug in his hands. That's when it all came back to me, my dad was a werewolf, and so was I. "Quick Eve! Get up! We have to run!" He said, shooting panicked looks at the door he grasped my arm and pulled me over his shoulder. "Dddaaaadddd, wwwhhhhaaaattttssss gggoooiiinnggg oooonnnnnn?" I said, my voice bumping because of the movement of his legs. " They're coming for us Evie. We have to hurry." He said, he sounded really scared. He carried me into the tiny shed that we had in our backyard. He sat me down on an over turned bucket and started to pull away the mat on the floor to reveal a trap door!

"How long has that been there?" I asked, dumbfounded. I was seriously confused as to what was going on. I mean one hour ago I had just been a normal girl on her sixteenth birthday and now I was a werewolf and my dad was climbing through a tiny trapdoor that I never even knew existed even though I had lived in this house, with this shed in the garden for sixteen years! Wow! that is a lot to take in!!! 2 I'll explain everything later!" he called up to me from underneath the shed. "Just get down here!" I awkwardly climbed down slipping on something and falling. As I got up I took in my surroundings.

I was in a whole other room! Underground! The walls looked like the walls of a cave but the only entrane to the cave was the trap door that we had just come through. The floor was just mud. Beacause my dad had closed the trapdoor (and locked it) the only light to see by was the glow of the torches fasted to the walls in different places. When I say torches, I mean the old fashioned type, like in the movies only these were real. When I looked closly at the wall I saw claw markes on them, they looked like they belonged to a bear or ....a wolf? I turned and looked at my dad,who had his back to me and was taking off his jumper.

"Dad is this, is this where you change? Like, into a wolf?" I already knew the answer I just needed to hear him say it. " Yes, and this is where you will be changing too." he said, still with is back to me. " Does it hurt?" I asked.

" Yeah, but you get used to the pain. The worst part is remembering who you are." That made me nervous.

"So, you forget who you are?" I asked apprehensively.

" Kind of. When you change the wolf inside of you tries to take over. But as long as you hold on to the human part of you then you can remember everything and who people are. Don't worry though! It takes practice so I got you these." he held up chains. I chocked back tears but they fell anyway, I backed away until I reached the wall and shook my head slowly.

"I-I can't do this. This is to much!" I ran to the trapdoor, unlocked it climbed up and ran out of the shed and into the woods. That was when it started. The pain. I was changing. And there was no one here to help me.
