The bugle sounded from the tallest tower in the castle. Ciara got all jittery. "That's the signal! They are here!" She squeaked.
I squinted into the distance. Over the first wall infront of my wall, it was just open ocean. There was no army as far as I could see. Well, I couldn't see into the darkness...that seemed to get closer and closer, creeping up on us.

"Holy Gwackamoe." I whispered in disbelief. Yes, they were here! Could make out inddigual people now--little ants, sneaking up on us. I realized then how much danger we were dealing with. There were real monsters! Not just suckshi, but giant electric eels and squids. Just oversized sea creatures like that. There were also indescribable creatures, but just by looking at them, you would know that they were made by and for evil.

The Shores army on the sea floor charged Kior's army, some Shore people on seahorses and some just swimming.
So much can happen in a second. People can be born, and people could die in one second. Someone could experience joy, someone could be in a terrible sadness in one second. Someone's world could crash down on their shoulders in one second. One second could change a person's life forever.

In this second, several things happened: the whole world drew in a breath. The amies clashed. I thought of all of my family and friends down there, now fighting. Abitha, my uncle, Dad, and everyone else. A cry escaped my lips and I pulled my bow to my ear. I found a specific target, aimed, nodded at Ciara, and fired. That monster died in that second.

Then that second was over. The world let out the breath, and everyone in my station fired at will. It was easy for me somehow, to destroy all of these creatures. I think it had something to do with my anger at Kior.

Maybe for a little while I thought it was easy. Nobody was shooting at us; they were too focused on the fighting down on the sea floor. Which sort of conserved me, because if all of the enemy army was busy with one station, it was pretty bad down there. Though I must admit that I was glad there was no trouble up here...yet.

Another arrow came whizzing over the wall. Ciara screamed. At first I thought that she was hit, but I didn't see an arrow sticking out of her or anything. I relaxed a little, thinking he arrow went over Ciara's shoulder. Fear gripped me again when I realized it hadn't. Aideen toppled over at that moment.
