41. The End of the Book is the Beginning of Me.

I feel like I am some sort of robot. My brain has to tell my body how to work. Swim. Take your hand and open the door. Change into human form. Lie on your bed.

It has been--what? two weeks?--since the battle. Everything and everyone seems normal in the castle, exept Uncle is not here, and I am instead. I took all of the roles that the king had. It was like he never even existed. But he did.

Abitha is the only one that doesnt play along with the whole "What king?" thing. I know it is only for my sake. She says that it will get better. I will get over it, and Shore people will start remembering. She says it was like that when the queen died.

Abitha was right. I did start to feel better, after a while. I started allowing myself to think about the battle. I wished i ahdnt thought about it though. While i was thinking, I realized something. The battle was all my fault. If i wasnt here, if I was somewhere else, the battle wouldn't have happened. Uncle, Aideen, and so many others would still have their lives.

I grabbed my sack from underneath my bed. I packed my training clothes, my writing book, some novels, clothes, Jade, and finally my locket. I swung the pack over my shoulder and went out the door, changing into my mer form on the way.

Abitha came out of her room when I passed. "Hey." she smiled. But soon the smiled melted off of her face. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to find the cure. Then I'm going to bring back he magic." I said. "And don't you dare stop me."
