The Shores

It seems to Pearl that nothing she ever does it right. She is made fun of at school. But Pearl's world turns upside down and sideways when she meets a strange girl. The girl helps Pearl discover her past, present and destiny. Can Pearl discover what she was born to do--in time to save her kingdom?

21. Perri, The Most Annoying Person On Earth

As I was swimming back to my room, I bumped into a Shore with a green tail wheeling a cart of books.

"Watch it!" He exclaimed, as I knocked some books off of his cart.

"I'm so sorry!" I said, and bent down to pick up the books. Turns out he had the same idea. We bumped heads. "Ow!"

"You are talking." The boy said, rubbing his forehead.

"Let me go first." I said, bending down. I picked the books off of the floor and put them on the cart. I expanded a hand, "I am Pearl Morlinda. Who are you?"

He burst out laughing. "Right. And I'm the king."

What? Did he not believe me. "It's true. It is!"

"Okay, what ever you say, Your Magesty, " The mer bowed sarcastically.

"Let's just say you believe me. Who are you?" I rolled my eyes.

The boy hesitated, " Perri. My name is Perri."

Suddenly I had a thought. "Perri, you wouldn't by any chance know where the room of wonders is, do you?"

He got a funny look on his face. "It's funny you mention that, actually. Just the other day, the laibraian said that the library was 'a room of wonders' I could only assume he meant the books."

I remembered Damita's words, 'And fall away in a sea of pages'. Pages, meaning the books!

"Can you take me there?" I asked quickly.

"Your wish is my command, O Gracious One." Perri joked. I held back my anger and followed the boy to the library.
