27. And I Thought School Was Complicated

"Even though I'm you're sister, we still have to train," Abitha said the day after. She handed me my bow, wich I had named Jade because of it's color.
Abitha had said that it meant 'peretious protection'.

I got dressed int my training clothes, and Abitha led me into a big huge emty room. It reminded me of my school gym. There were small windows and wooden floors. Inside this gym, there were targets, the ones where it's standing up on three wooden legs, and had a bull's eye painted on.

"So, you aim for the red bull's eye," Abitha said to me," Hop to it."

I didn't know how to work a bow, so Abitha tought me. I had to hold it in a certain position. It was tricky if you didn't hold it right. "Okay," Abitha instruced me "pull back on the end of the arrow. That's it. And when you are ready, let go."

I took in a deep breath, and when I exhaled, let go. The arrow went buzzing through the air. I thought that it would be way off target but when I looked, it was directly centered in the center of the bull's eye! I was amazed to see on my first try, I got the bull's eye.

"Cool!!" Abitha exclaimed. So I practiced shooting the target, hitting it every time.

"Okay," said Abitha after a while," it's time to practice magic. Magic is power that
comes from your noodle." She pointed to her head. " It is also the power from the water particles. I like to think of magic in three steps."

She said,
"Step number one," Abitha said, " Is to think what you want." she placed Jade in front of me. "Think about how you want to have Jade rise to your waist. Think about how you would try to extract the power from the water particles with your mind."

"How would I do that?" I asked, " Extract the power from the water, I mean."

A gleam appeared in Abitha's eye. "That's the hard part. No one knows really how to do it, it just happens. No one knows how to explain it."

"Well." I said with a sigh, " that makes things a bit more difficult, doesn't it?"

Abitha smiled grimly. " The second step is to imagine what you want. Imagine Jade floating up to your waist. Imagine how it would feel, smell, taste, or be like."

"The third step, I always thought as the hardest." Abitha took a deep breath, " you have to do everything at once. Extract the power with your mind as you think about the task you want Jade to do while you imagine what it would feel, smell taste, and or be like."

Abitha looked at my stunned face. "Think you could handle it?"

"Sure," I gulped, " a princess gotta do what a princess gotta do."

I stared at Jade, just lying there on the wooden floor. How hard could it be? I took a breath. Then, I thought about how I wanted Jade to float up to my waist. I thought about how there would be water particles, and how my mind would take the power from them. Next step, I imagined how jade would feel, barley touching my waist, and it would be right there infront of me. Last step. I tried to do it all at once.

Many thoughts swirled around in my head. Water particles, power, floating, Jade, my waist. I closed my eyes and thought and imagined all of these things. 'Okay,' I thought, 'Im done.' I opened my eyes, first peeking, then actually looking. Jade was right there...still on the ground.
