Needs editing! The Lollipop Brigade. That's what Meg nicknames the gang of popular girls at her high school. They've made Meg's life hell and stopped her from having any friends. That's until Damien appears. But what if there is more to the Lollipop Brigade than meets the eye?

25. Chapter Twenty Five

Suddenly the pressure around my neck was gone, and I coughed, tears streaming down my face.

Damien appeared by my side. He looked out of breath and his hair was a mess. "Meg," He gasped, when he saw my face. "Are you ok? I tried to get here as soon as I could."

Damien released one of my wrists, and I flexed it gratefully.

      "Damien," I croaked.

"Hush," he said, smiling at me. "We've got to get out of here."

      "Stop where you are!"

Damien froze, stopped trying to free my other wrist and turned around.

Sara was holding a gun (where had she gotten that from? I couldn’t help but wonder), had cuts on her face and was looking worse for wear.

I guess that Damien had knocked her off me and onto the floor.

She was shaking with anger, and was looking absolutely positively murderous.

"Isn't it tragic? The two lovers reunited just in time to die together?" Sara asked head tilted to the side causing a line of blood to change direction and run down her nose.

"You don't have to do this Sara." Damien said, trying to sound reasonable.

She laughed. "Oh but I do; you two know too much."

"It's not just Meg and I that know." Damien's voice cut the air like a scythe.

Sara's eye twitched. "What do you mean?" She demanded, pointing the gun in Damien's face.

Damien didn't seem at all phased by the gun. "The police are outside, Sara. Why don't you just give yourself up?"

"No!" She shrieked, the gun beginning to shake in her grasp.

"Sara," Angel's voice was soothing. "I think it's time to end this don't you?"

Sara turned to Angel. "What are you talking about? I'm the boss! Not you!"

Angel sighed. "I've always been loyal to you, Sara. I'm only trying to help you."

"No! I know what you're trying to do, and I won't let you!" Sara pointed the gun at Angel. "You're right; you have always been loyal to me, but now I think your usefulness has come to an end."

The gunshot echoed around the building and I blinked in shock, as I tried to see what had happened.

While Sara was distracted Damien undid the rest of my restraints. He helped me up and I saw that Angel had been shot in the arm. The other Lollipops were helping her.

A door burst open and a group of six teenage boys and six teenage girls ran in.

"Sara," One boy said stopping in front of her. "We heard the shot, but listen there's police crawling all over the place, we've got to get out of here... Hey, where are they going?"

Damien and I had been making a get away, but Sara screamed at us to stop where we were.

We turned around, and Damien obviously recognised the group of newcomers as I felt him grow tense beside me.

"Just give up, Sara; you heard what he said, the police are here."

"No!" Sara pointed the gun at me. "You two are both going to die, but I think it's only right that Meg should die first."

I clung to Damien, praying that Sara wouldn't shoot either of us.

"Drop the weapon! You are surrounded by the police! Put your hands on your heads!" The words bounced throughout the building with authority.

My focus was on Sara to see what she would do next. She seemed unsure as what to do.

Sara was soon the only person standing and all eyes were on her.

"I repeat put the gun down otherwise we shall have to take action!"

After what seemed like an age I saw the gun lower and then clatter onto the ground.

Sara burst into tears and fell to her knees.

Police swarmed into the building and paramedics appeared and tended to Angel.

I grinned, climbing to my feet and hugged Damien, so very happy to be alive.

When we were allowed, Damien and I went outside.

"How did you know where to find me?" I asked, gazing at the outside of the building we had been in, which turned out to be an abandoned warehouse.

"It was in Hayley's notes. I knocked on your door and you didn't answer, so I rang you and again you didn't answer, so I knew immediately that something was wrong. I rang the police and then came here."

"Thank you so much!" I cried, wanting to hug him and never let go.

"Oh and I picked this up as well."

"My necklace!" I grinned, accepting it from his outstretched hand. "Oh thank you Damien."

"It was on the floor. Hey," Damien said nudging me gently. "After we've sorted everything out with the police do you want a game of Crystal Kingdom?"

I smiled. "That sounds good, there's something I want to do first though."

      "Oh yeah, what's that?"

I put my hands on Damien's cheeks and leaned forwards until our lips were touching.

After a while we broke apart, and grinning I said. "That,"
