Time is limited. Maybe not for Aria and Jessica, but for those who's lives soon run out, Death will be waiting...

5. Fire - Aria

"I'm so sorry," I repeated., and I meant it. I could relate to him. My mother had disappeared and my father died when I was young. No one knew if my mother was still alive.

Jake nodded, accepting my apology and awkwardly dragged his hand through his hair.

"Why are you covered in blood?" he asked, staring at my crimson covered dress.

I stared down at torn dress, nervously trying to think up an excuse.

"I know what you are," Jake whispered, taking a step towards me.

How had he guessed? Was it the blood? The golden tint in my eyes?

I stood frozen to the spot, weary of the knife on the mantelpiece. Being a vampire, I have incredible speed and strength, so why did I feel so frightened?

There was something about him, even though he is human, he has this sort of aura about him.

Something about him screamed: Don't mess with me or I'll kill you.

"Animal blood," I said softly, trying to defend myself.

"I know..." he muttered, stroking my cheek.

What was he doing? Why was he so close to me, shouldn't he be scared of me?

Jake didn't look frightened at all. He stood strong, whilst his fingers caressed my cheek.

I was scared of him, not the other way around.

"Why are you so scared of me?" he almost laughed. He didn't understand it either.

I didn't reply. Instead, I stared into his eyes and begged him to understand that maybe, just maybe, I was scared that I was falling for him. How could someone fall in love within a few hours of knowing that person? I urged him to see in my eyes that he entranced me, he made me question the things I was so sure of.

He smiled, the fire that flickered in the corner illuminated his face, and in that moment, I saw it in his eyes, he knew.

His smile turned into a grin; he loved the idea that he had got me hooked on him in such little time. But none of this made any sense. He was a hunter. He shouldn't be this easy to befriend.

Jake hesitated momentarily before slowly leaning down and and crushing his lips against mine. I let my mind go blank and my world seem to be fixated on this very moment in time. Everything else just seemed to...fade away.

He encircled me in arms, pulling me tightly against him, I let my arms slither around his neck. I wanted this kiss to last forever. This kiss I shared with a stranger. That was the truth, wasn't it? I knew hardly anything about him.

At this moment, my body was on fire, my nerve-ending erupting. My heart was a volcano that spewed passion and emotion through my body. As we continued to kiss, locked in each other's arms, the fire grew wilder and crazier, bringing out a new person in me.

A person that was free.

Abruptly, I broke away from Jake when I heard a sniffling sounds coming from the doorway.

Jessica stood, clutching the door frame as if she couldn't handle her own weight, as if she'd lose her balance.

"What are you doing?" she questioned, angrily, tears rolling down her face.

"Excuse me?" Jake asked, frowning at her. The muscles in his jaw tightened. This wasn't going to end pretty.

"I saw everything," she snapped back. "Why would you do that? That's my boyfriend!"

"Jessica..." I was furious now, dripping with anger. She was talking rubbish and she had ruined a completely perfect moment. "This isn't your boyfriend, this is Jake."

Jake looked at me with confusion. His eyes shone with multiple questions: what was she on about? Why did she think I was her boyfriend?

"Get away from him!" She yelled, bolting across the room in vamp speed, grabbed me and flung me across the room. I landed merely feet from the fireplace.

I stared at her, enraged. How the hell did she think she was?

Jake stood, staring wide-eyed at the scene, unsure what to do.

Jessica turned around to face Jake.

"How could you do this to me, Will? How could you cheat on me with this?"

Now I was seriously confused.

And so was Jake.

"Who the hell is Will?"
