This is How it Was Meant To Be

This is a story about four girls - Willow, Janice, Tayla and Sofia - whose lives are interconnected, even though they don't realise it. Each of these girls unknowingly help each other out with what they crave for the most! This is a story I wrote to show how everything we do affects the people around us. Please read :)

9. Willow

It turned out that Kerrie hadn't taken that mishap in the canteen very nicely. Usually, she liked hurting Tayla with me. We used to be a duo, and it used to be fun. Honestly speaking, I had only done what I did at lunch to get Kerrie to join me again. She was the one who started this whole Tayla business after all. But now, she's taken a different and more annoying angle at it.

"You're always hurting that poor girl," she hollered at me today during P.E. Kerrie and I didn't like P.E much, it meant a lot of sweating and that wasn't good for our expensive makeup. We usually made excuses to sit out of it, but today, like all the other odd things she was doing, Kerrie decided to go for basketball. Wow. Basketball? Yeah right! Kerrie would grow a moustache sooner than she learnt to shoot decent baskets. I was no good either, but nevertheless, out of my desperation, I followed her there too.

"But you're the one who started this, remember?" I yelled at her while throwing the basketball around lousily. "Since when have you started caring for Tayla anyway?"

"It's not about that," she said, flushing red. "It's about how you're always after 'pettier' people. It's like nobody matters but you! You're just a typical snob, you know that?"

It took all my willpower not to retort violently. She was just as bad as me. She's no different from me. That's why we were friends! But now she just thinks everything I do is wrong! Urgh!

Yesterday when I had told her I was going to show her that Josh was a jerk, I had no idea what I was doing. But I needed to prove it to Kerrie. That was the only way she would talk to me again. So I had hunted the guy down. He was at the canteen. And that's how Kerrie and I had ended up there. He was with two girls. Great. I had hoped one of them would be his girlfriend or something like that, and hopefully something would happen that would show Kerrie what he truly was. But all that had happened was that Tayla incident. And then Kerrie had left.

But then, right there at the basketball court today, I saw something that made my heart jump excitedly. Yes, this was the chance! This was what I had been waiting for! Now Kerrie would see!

"Kerrie! Kerrie, look! Just look, over there! See?"

I was pointing at the bleachers, where two figures were sitting together - a guy and a girl. It was Josh with one of the girls from the canteen yesterday. He had his arm around the girl's shoulder and they were talking and laughing in a way that unmistakably suggested they were a couple. I felt happier than I had ever done in my life. Finally! FINALLY! Here was the perfect chance to show Kerrie what I had meant to show her all along!

Kerrie's mouth was hanging open. Apparently, she had seen what I was pointing at. I grabbed her arm and rushed towards the bleachers. Josh and the girl looked up, frowning. But I didn't care. I was too excited.

"Hey Josh! And who's this? Is that your girlfriend? Oh, but I had heard you like me! What happened to that? You a jerk?"

He stood, and so did the girl. "Shut up Willow. You're an ugly, selfish bitch, you know that? Thanks to Sofia, she opened my eyes to this. I can't believe I thought I liked you!" And with that, he grasped the girl's hand and walked away from the basketball court.

I turned to Kerrie, and before I knew it, she was hugging me, sobbing into my shoulders. "Oh Willow! You were right! You were so right about Josh! He is a player. And to think of all the horrible things I said to you. I'm so sorry!"

I smiled to myself. Finally.
