At War (Old Version)

*OLD VERSION! :) There's a newer one published now. :D*
Two princesses are fighting a war for their father's throne. Now, they must inherit their father's mighty battle dragons, and end the war, one way or another... But who will win?

17. Princess Korae

"Princess, Princess Korae, Princess..." I wake to someone gently shaking my arm. Groaning heavily, I push my eyelids open, and I realise that they feel almost normal, no longer greatly weighted, also, the fiery pain in my head has turned to a dull ache, and I just feel... better.

The very first thing I set eyes on is Owen, my best friend,  just as his frown turns into a smile. I have known Owen for so long that his expressions are as familiar to me as my own. I pull the corners of my mouth upwards in an attempt to indicate to him that I feel better. " You're okay, Korae." He says, his smile stretching to a grin as he speaks, " You were really ill, we almost lost you." He continues, his voice wobbling slightly towards the end.  " I should probably tell the nurse that you're awake, she'll want to talk to you." He walks down the corridor, not taking his eyes off me, and pretty much rugby tackles the first nurse he sees, pointing in my direction, when the nurse sees me, her eyes widen and  she practically sprints over to me, asking a load of questions once more.

About ten minutes later, when the nurse has done every test on me known to man, fed me and I have washed, she deems me fit to go, with an escort, by name of Owen. As we are walking through the grounds, I finally pluck up the courage to ask Owen what I should have asked him as soon as I woke up.

"Owen, what happened to Kai?" I ask, my voice sounding very croaky from lack of use.

"He... umm"

"He what? Owen, talk to me." I demand, my voice's volume rising.

"His tail was damaged, Korae, I'm sorry. He's in the infirmary, if you want to go see him." Owen says.

"Take me to him."
