2. That Fateful Day

Two days after Duncan had told us his plan we were all ready to start it and make Mcreedy realize how bad he is and how horrible he is with everyone. The plan was simple really but we needed some things in order for us to complete it. Basic things really like a map so we could find the equipment shed and have a look at the woods around and so we could find out where Mcreeedy’s room was. So Duncan found out where the map was kept and he took a copy (there was two after all and Ken was still ill or at least Mcreeedy said he was). We then needed to find something to get Mcreedy with and after long chats and debates we picked the only things we could find a lot of...springs. The plan was one of us would go up to the roof of the food hall and every time Mcreedy shouted they would roll a spring down of the roof. I thought it was a bit of a bad idea I mean he’ll find out there springs, he’ll find out where they are coming from and then find out who through them down! Duncan though would not take no for an answer he wanted Mcreedy to stop so he said he’d go on the roof.

The next morning and Mcreedy preformed his morning scream to get us up. We quickly got dressed then ran out with the box of springs and hid in the woods. We found our way to the back of the food hall and Duncan started to climb up we had to give him a hand of course but he got up fast. We then sank back into the foods and went around to the cabin area and joined the crowd. Just like every morning Mcreedy got up on the food hall porch and shouted at us, telling us how bad we were the other day and he hated people like us who don’t do anything and won’t try. Just then a spring rolled down and hit Mcreedy on the head. We all gazed up but Duncan was nowhere in sight. Mcreedy moved a bit towards us and looked up then another spring hit him and we all laughed. But then another came down and missed him. Mcreedy turned round and stared at us he opened his mouth to shout but someone beat him to it. “Oh No!” someone yelled as they pointed to the roof and then we saw all of the springs rolling down the roof. Mcreedy looked up and then...they all hit him. After he had dragged himself up we all stood in shock the springs had cut all his face, hands, arms and caught one of his eyes. He walked off shouting for Ken then disappeared into his cabin.

Shortly after Duncan reappeared “it was not meant to go like that” whispered Duncan. “We know” I said and give him a smile “I just moved a bit and then lost my footing and they all came down” said Duncan a bit louder. “Is everyone ok?” asked Ken as he looked at the crowd. Just after everyone nodded we heard a slam, our heads turned suddenly to see what caused the noise there stood Mcreedy with his bag, his face and hands covered in bandages. I put my head down as did the others. We knew it was wrong. Mcreedy set away from the camp and Ken raised his voice a bit to draw our attention away from Mcreedy. “Now” said Ken “your first activity is a nice walk in the woods and I’m sure I’ll be able to show you all some wonderful sites and interesting facts!” said Ken with enthusiasm. “I thought you were ill” said a loud voice from the crowd of campers “I was on the second day but then Mcreedy told me to rest and said you all seemed fine with him so...I rested gotta make sure I’m healthy and ready to explore!!!” “So where is Mcreedy going?” asked another voice. “Well he said he needed to get away for a little while and he wanted to go to Devils Drop.” “That sounds cool” replied the voice “it is, but very dangerous we can’t go” said Ken. Out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of Alice and some other people around her. Their faces seemed to be filled with worry and they looked frightened. I tap Duncan and nodded in her direction “you ok?” asked Duncan “no” she whispered “we thought it was so great what you did to Mcreedy and then we wanted to scare him too and then we saw this snake and...” she broke off “how do you know I did that to Mcreedy?” asked Duncan “Well you showed up after he went in and we saw you come out of the woods which is where we saw the snake and then we...we just wanted to make him be scared so...we put the snake in his bag” she finally said while hanging her head down. “We thought he would take us for the walk and then reach for his bag see the snake and get scared then he would see how it feels” she explained “but the bag he took with him that was the one we put the snake in I’m sure of it and Ken said Devils Drop was dangerous and...and...”Alice broke off into tears. “Don’t worry” I said smiling at her “Mcreedys a tough guy and I am sure that he’ll look in his bag and see the snake and get rid of it”. “Y...yes I suppose so” Alice replied as a weak smile appeared on her face. As Alice went back to her friends I could not stop thinking about what could happen to Mcreedy I mean I know he was nasty and horrible and everything but what if something bad does happen to him? Will it be out fault because we had given Alice the idea? I then tried to look on the positive side of things like I said to Alice Mcreedy is a tough man and I’m sure he’s seen snakes before so he’ll be fine...I hope...
