Danté - An Assassin's Story

"For too long we have put up with the oppressive rule of the White Cross. Too long we have let them take our money. It's time to fight back, and I'm ready. And should I fail, may whoever reads this take up the fight once again. One day, the White Cross will fall."
This is the diary of Danté. A young man in a semi-fantasy world who has taken it upon himself to fight back against his dictators, the White Cross, and become an assassin.

11. Assassin - Day 12

Today I started training Pedro and Patrick to be assassins.

This involved free running and combat. It's going to take some time, but I think they have the potential to be skilled assassins.

If they can avoid being killed. One of our newer guys almost got killed whilst stealing some money from a White Cross sympathiser.

And the leader of the Thieves' Guild, Lo Sciacallo (The Jackal), visited too. Said he had plans for that tavern we put out of business, but needed my help to do it.

It's clear that one of the boys in my gang is also a member of the Thieves' Guild, though I don't care. I have a history with the Guild. It's thanks to me, and my mother (may she rest in peace) that they are still around, so I was happy to help.

My money cache has reduced a bit now, but it will build up soon. Leonardo is selling his paintings (the less special ones, anyway) and Maria has invested in a shop that sells things at fair prices - definitely not White Cross property.

Leonardo and I have grown...closer, recently. And not necessarily is the friend way. I'm not sure about Leo, but I think I may have a thing for guys. A do like the girls of the city, but some guys just...entice me, I guess.

But that's nothing to do with the revolution.

I've started to set up some contacts, though. After training, I sent Pedro into the richer area of the city to deliver messages to some of the shopkeepers and citizens I was friends with.

I'm hoping I'll get replies that will inform me that they will help me.

If not, I'll have to gather information by myself. This will include eavesdropping. I'm not incredibly good at that.

I know that the influence of the Brotherhood of Shadows is growing though. The small gang I started with has grown into a bustling community, and at least six in 10 of the people in this district are members.

Soon I'll start training more of them to be assassins.

And soon, the Brotherhood of Shadows in this city will not be a gang of thieves and troublemakers, but assassins.

And it will be us who lead the fight against the the White Cross.

And we will destroy them...
