He Needs To Stay On Top Of His Studies

A collection of poetry from a bored and procrastinating college student.

2. Boy Girl History

Hello friend, you’re older than I remember.

Your wrinkles creased and your eyes are sagged.

Your beauty now reduced to a shadow.

I must look strange to you, my friend.

I feel older and weaker, my body doesn’t do

What I tell it to anymore, as if I were on strings.

Let us sit and talk about when we were young.

When we frolicked in the daisies and long scratchy grass

Around my granddad’s house, how he used to laugh at

I remember the creaking woods, a ghost lived there

Or so we thought, and the trees

Hung over us, bearing invisible fruit.

And our treehouse, where we kissed for the first time

The last time, where we carved faces and imprinted smiles

Into the fractured bark.

We are aged now, those days long gone but still near

In our minds and our visions of our childhood.

Thank you, my friend, for something I will never forget.
