Anthology of the Macabre

24 poems of separation, pain, depression and anger. All taken from experiences in my own life, so also quite deep.

13. True Rose

You, my rose, a beautiful thing
Standing there, tall and slim
Your vibrant hair, ember red
Soon enough, you're in my bed.

Like a rose, thorns you show
Like the stem, you continue to grow
But deadly still, behind your eyes
Lies a nasty bitter surprise.

You plant in me, an evil seed
Like a cancer it wants to feed
It stirs within and will not give
It will destroy what once lived.

I allow you to leach away
Your thorns on skin they do flay
My body torn, I'm cast aside
And now your evil dwells inside.

Love is like a weed it seems
It grants with ease all your dreams
Then at the point of no return
It grips you tight, and let's you burn.

As I fall upon your knees
You do not heed my final pleas
You squeeze me tight and watch with glee
As I no longer become to be.
