irreplaceable

This is my first real attempt at a poem, written about / for my best friend Alex whiteland; you will always be my adopted sister.

1. Alexandra

An embrace, it speaks much louder than I,

My meagre voice dwindling.

The tears which spill from deep within

A mere indication of what I’m feeling.

The sorrow, anger and the hurt,

Your deep blues search me,

Asking why?

Why would I leave in such a way,

Without more contemplation?

Why need it be so far away,

To stretch our ties so unnecessarily?

Then to the future your mind wanders

Uncertainty, a growing fear;

Will the distance work against us,

Until not constrained by physicality?

And will new souls replace you,

Within my fickle heart?

But dear friend I digress,

For I will never truly leave you.

You are, to me, irreplaceable

Your faith in me, remarkable

And my love for you, invariable.

Friendship is a bond for life,

A path, on which, lies many rewards.

This trial can only make us stronger,

As distance makes the heart grow fonder...

An embrace, it speaks much louder than I,

My meagre voice dwindling.

The tears which spill from deep within

A mere indication of what I’m feeling.
