1. Chapter 1.

Screaming will not save you. That is the first thing I learned from the ghosts. Screaming will not save you...

"H-h-hello...?" my broken voice echoed down the long, dark stone corridor. Stiffling a whimper, I placed one shaky foot down. The cold floor chilled my foot, sending an unstoppable shiver down my spine. My trembling hand almost dropped the faintly flickering lantern as the word bounced back to me. Eyes wide, I put another bare foot on the chilly floor. Cold. So cold. "Hello?" My voice was louder this time. Louder... yet still pathetically terrified. Again, no reply. Just a darkening silence that was worse than any sound. But I knew I'd heard something. Swallowing as much fear as I could, I walked a few more cautious steps. It wasn't working, just scared me even more. To think that someone could be invading my home was purely terrifying. . .It filled me with an unimaginable dread. Perhaps the noise was just nothing. Then I saw the dead bodies of the gaurds who had been gaurding my chambers. Both had faces twisted in terror and shock. Both had bloody stab marks on their still as stone chests, bloody stab marks that had been the last thing they knew. I couldn't help it. I screamed. The blood curdling sound echoed down the vast corridor, alerting whatever assasin was here, whatever assasin who has slaughtered my gaurds without a sound. Eyes wide, I turned and ran back to my chambers, another scream already forming. It never came. A powerful hand clasped across my mouth, and a powerful strike found itself crashing against my skull...
