1. The People of Valusage Pilacticka Thug

The aliens came, dressed in white and black.

They took me away, wouldn’t give me back.

Up in their ship, glistening green and gold,

Taking me to places far away, worlds untold.

I have no desire to go on this quest.

I don’t believe in aliens! Is this some kind of test?

“No,” they say, voices strong and deep.

I try to scream, but can’t let out a peep.

They can read my mind? How can this be?

“To be perfectly honest, it’s quite easy.”

I jump again, not yet used to this hell.

Though I suppose, if I’m stuck here, I might as well.

They agree with a grin, a fearsome face,

Oh how I wish to get out of this place!

But still on we fly, my figure all huddled.

And to think, just yesterday, history got me befuddled.

And today I’m seeing a new kind of history,

Something that to most will forever be a mystery.

As my curiosity begins to stir in its cage,

Something sparks within me, something akin to rage.

“Why me?” I growl, eyes filled with fire.

Nothing they say could possibly cool my ire.

They all sigh sadly, and look to the leader,

A small, sweet faced child examining a birdfeeder.

She puts down the feeder and turns instead to me,

Her mouth quirks up, revealing not a missing tooth, but three.

“Well, dear,” she says, greeting me like an old mate,

“I don’t see why you’re in such a state.

We took you out of the world of the dull,

Shouldn’t our reasoning be rendered null?”

“No!” I bellow, and all around me freeze.

The child smiles sweetly and taps me on the knees.

“Too bad,” she whispers, eyes dangerously sharp.

“You’re part of this crew now, quit strumming your harp.

We chose you for your heart, your ability to care.

We chose in the hopes that you could teach us to bear…”

She trails off, and has to choke back a sob.

Around me small cries tumble throughout the mob.

“To bear the hatred that’s shown to us!

We didn’t do anything but they put us on a bus!”

“Who sent you away?” I say worriedly.

I think for the first time I may have judged them too hurriedly.

The girl blinks three times, and gives me a hug.

“The people of Vahlusaga Pilacticka Thug!”

I wrap my arms around the sobbing little thing,

As throughout the halls her cries ring.

I sniffle myself, despite my annoyance.

This tragedy brings me no joyance.

“It’s okay, I’m sure,” I try to sooth.

“Well,” she whispers hoarsely, “I should tell you the truth…”

“Truth is, we’re guilty of a horrible crime.

We broke a law punishable by acid slime.”

“What law is that?” I ask, eyes wide.

She smiles hugely, and her eyes turn pied.

And in her eyes, I see something odd,

Just as her grip on me turns clawed.

I try to ignore it, desperately so,

But I’m drawn into her world, though I don’t want to go!

And I see the scene as it is played out,

A huge gooey man, offers the girl a clout.

She cries out aloud as he shows her a view.

A view of the events being played out to you.

I try to understand, I try and I try.

My head throbs with pain, and I start to cry.

“Ah! What’s happening? What’s wrong?” I scream,

As my head starts to crack at the seam.

The girl lets me go, and smiles in delight.

“That is what was seen. Now meet eternal night.”

The last thing I see is her face, wide with glee,

All thanks to those aliens who kidnapped me.
