2. It All Begins

Keith's bright white Converse Boots gleamed in the sunlight as him, Adam, Tommy, and Connor wandered through the deserted town square. It was a Sunday, and there was no one about, unusual for the time of day. Shopworkers all seemed like they had been possessed, just standing or sitting at their desks rolling pens through their fingers, staring into space.

"Look, guys, if i've told you once, i've told you a million times, Madness are the best band to have ever lived!" Tommy suddenly said loudly. Keith nodded in agreement and smiled.

"Their not! Snow Patrol are!" Connor replied. This was a common argument between the boys that never seemed to reach an end. The boys never seemed to take anything as an offence, they took it as if they hadn't heard the other person even though they were deliberatly ignoring them. But these boys were just normal guys, they were well into boyish things like football and video games, and have had many a conversation about how good looking the girls at their school were, and how they were way out of their league. This is what you would expect, considering their boys. They also seemed to have different personalities and skills, Keith was sporty and intelligent, Adam was the smartest with a quick, witty imagination, Tommy was the joker, everything he said seemed to come off as funny and as for Connor, well Connor was what they classed as the "special" one. He wasn't any different in looks, or how he acted as the others, he just needed cheering up a lot. See, Connor's father left when he was very young, he hardly knew him, during his teen  years Connor has tried tracking his father down but with little or no luck. But last year, his mum got a letter through the post one early August morning. What it said changed Connor's life forever. It was a handwritten letter from someone his Dad supposedly worked for,  it was written to tell both Connor and his mother, that Connor's dad had died in a car accident, almost 10 years after he left without warning. This upset Connor so much, he started showing signs of depression, and his work rate, which was always up to his very best ability started to detoriate rapidly. Instead of getting the A's he was predicted, he was now getting D's and E's. Connor, was breaking down. As for his mum, she had tried everything to help him, but sometimes benefits do not go far enough i suppose. Although, 6 months later, Connor had seemed to brighten up a bit, and decided that even though he was still upset over his Dad's passing, he will not let his future suffer because of it. Connor knew what he needed to do, and he slowly got his grades to where they were before, and he had started to make new friends, friends who could understand what he's gone through, friends who were there every step of the way. He started working, and soon he and his mum were much happier, they finally could relax a little, life was getting better. Maybe his prayers were being answered, each and every night Connor prayed that just one thing would happen in his lifetime, just one thing. To this day he has never told anyone what it is, but, as he will soon find out, he will finally let his secret out...
