A poem written about a loved one's behaviour as she tells me about her experience being raped.

1. Dear

Either side of an experience well before my own heartbeat began, taking me gently by the hand and enclosing it within her olive folds, cow eyes threatening to storm with past sorrows, always played close to her chest she was a strong one, my idol never had I seen her cry. Confessions spilt suddenly, overflowing her nicotine lips, at times she babbled nonsensically, words stumbling over their predecessors, determined to stay before that time, not to be touched again by him.

Anxiously a thumb-nail traced crop circles into my palm, as her adolescent self was unfolded, the wild child dancing round her sister's pedestal of glass, laughing against all odds.. or pans thrown at her frame.
