My Mumbles (3)

  • British Weather

SarahSwan'Aww I want to live in England, the accent is lovely and there's the Queen and you can drink loads of tea...'
Ever thought like this? Well, I am telling you now, you are VERY WRONG. England isn't all it's cracked up to be. And today's rant shall be about the appalling weather we endure.
I'm not a very scientific or geographical person, but I understand that countries closer to the equator are generally warmer. In comparison, places like Antarctica are rather chilly, being so far away from the equator. But we are sort-of in the middle, and yet we suffer icy temperatures the majority of the time. I walked to school the other day and it was -2. This was the end of March. The end of March is the beginning of spring, and yet we have snow?! The world is wrong.
And yes, we drink lots of tea, which I certainly appreciate, but other than that England is generally very dull and cold. I could continue forever on the many flaws of this country, but I will save you the boredom. And because now I am craving a cup of tea...

  • Brace Face

SarahSwanI like talking, way too much. But I wanted to see if anyone could give me any opinions/stories/advice on what I am about to talk about.
I got braces on Friday. 1) ouch! 2) can I drink orange juice?!(because the dentist said I couldn't but I reckon she lied to deliberately make me grouchy)

After spending the first three days on a diet of paracetemol, I have finally managed to eat something other than ice cream. I am yet to have an awkward brace experience, but I'm sure one will occur soon, due to my general awkwardness and the fact that fate is probably plotting against me simply for the amusement of others.
This is my semi rant about braces, but what do you think? *attempts to initiate a response from people reading this, which is likely to be no-one*
I have glasses and now a brace. I am the ultimate geek.
Jessica G CollinsOmg I need braces too! I'm so worried about it o_e
LelacoolI've been through it, both glasses and brace. People probably wont notice, and I am sure that it will be fine. People hardly noticed mine, so you will probably be ok :)
SarahSwani have actually got used to them now, jessica i'd advise not eating apples or crusty bread and you'll be fine :-) i hope it goes well! x
  • Bliss Miss Write

SarahSwanThis is my story for Bliss, please leave feedback! ;)x

My boyfriend, Zach, had ditched me for his friends again, so I took the opportunity to try and find him a birthday present. I traipsed around Topman for about 10 minutes before discovering a beanie hat that I knew he’d love, the last on the rack. I reached out, but so did another hand.
“Sorry,” we both said at the same time. I glanced sideways, ready to fight for the hat, but I stopped, shocked. I was standing next to Aston Merrygold.
“You can have the hat,” I insisted.
“Thanks.” He winked at me. “I don’t see many girls wanting hats like this?” I laughed shyly.
“It’s for my boyfriend,” I told him. Was that disappointment on his face?
“He’s a lucky guy,” he said, and I couldn’t help but blush.
“For getting this hat, I mean.” He handed it back to me, laughing.
“Well, thanks.” I shuffled away awkwardly, heading for the check-out. Then I spotted Zach. Holding hands with a girl.
“On second thoughts” –my words took Aston by surprise- “you take the hat.” He raised an eyebrow.
“What made you change your mind?” he asked.
“I realised you deserved it more than him.”
Aston looked genuinely concerned. He took my arm and we sat down outside Topman, where I confessed to him about what happened. He listened carefully.

“You’ll find someone better,” he reassured me, a cheeky smile spreading across his face as he pulled on the beanie hat. It looked really good on him. He winked at me, and gestured for me to pick up my bags. But when I turned around he had gone.

That was the last I saw of the mysterious Merrygold, but it wasn’t over. A scribbled number I discovered inside my coat pocket told me that we would meet again…
