You're Different (love story)

In the 8th grade, Lily, Gwen, Jonah and Riker all left Avery Cincinnati alone like a helpless loser. They thought she was too uptight and not good enough for them. Well-not all of them thought that. Riker Smith had different opinions.
But now things are different. It's sophomore year and Avery still hasn't built up enough courage to talk to Riker. Riker hasn't built up the courage to talk to her. One day on the way home from a costume party, Avery hit's Riker with her car by accident which causes him to be in the hospital for several months. Avery's mom forces her to visit and help Riker in the hospital.
Will they accidentally catch feelings for each other?

1. Prologue -Avery POV-

I stand outside of my middle school on the last day of school. My friends and I are messing around on the blacktop. Lily, Gwen, and I are having a conversation about Jonah and Lily's relationship.

It's been complicated.

"He said he wanted to take a break during the summer! I just don't get it.." Lily moped. Her face was down and sad. Although she was sad, she was still gorgeous. She had sand colored skin, long strawberry blonde hair that went down to her waist, baby blue eyes, and a line of freckles that went across her nose.

"Maybe he's just testing you! I hate it when boys do that." Gwen assured. Now Gwen was pretty too. A little less pretty than Lily. She had dyed auburn colored hair, a sharp nose, and her eyebrows were always on point.

It was my turn to talk.

"Or maybe he just actually wants a break. Jonah had his eyes on another girl from high school."

They both looked at me with disgust. I feel like I wasn't helping the situation. I blushed and pursed my thin lips, while tucking my brown hair behind my ear.

"Really Avery? you're not helping. I wanted you to be supportive but you're just a depressing meme like always." Lily stated. Gwen nodded in agreement.

I sigh, "Look I'm sorry. What do you want me to do?" My eyes are puppy eyes by now.

They looked at each other with guilt. Were they hiding something?

"Look Ave-" Jonah interrupts Gwen.

"Hey guys I have a Question," Riker walks over too.

Jonah continues, "Who is actually the best? Me or Rike?"

Riker smiles with his mouth closed showing off his dimples. I liked it when he did that.

"Umm can't choose." I said, crossing my arms and smiling.

Gwen stood up taller, "Obviously Jonah. He's cute."

Lily evil eyed Gwen and low-key shrieked.

"Cute?" she testifies in a almost whisper like tone.

"Yea I mean he's alright compared to Riker."

"You can't call my boyfriend Cute!"

Jonah steps in with a grossed out look on his face.

"I'm not your boyfriend Lil's." He states. Riker and I scoot back to a corner.

"Oh come on Jonah! You were only trying to make me jealous."

"No, I actually hated what you said about Avery." Jonah looked at me and shook his head, "Not cool."

My eyes widened. "What did you say?" I walked up to Lily and demanded an answer.

"That you were an uptight hoe."

The way she said it. So clearly, "uptight hoe."

"Wow really? look who's talking." I shot back.

No way was I going to let her win this battle.

"You know you don't have to have friends Ave, I could easily leave with everyone." Lily smirked and crossed her arms.

I always knew she was a bitch, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from saying this.

"Okay well, I hated you all. You were never good friends anyways. You never invite me to hang out on the weekends anymore, you never offer to help me with things. It's sooo obvious that all of you had something against me and-" Riker cuts me off. Great.

"Ave, I had nothing against you I swear." He looked sad, He looked like he wanted me to forgive him. I know he was being fake, all of them are fake.

"Then why didn't you tell me what they said like a good friend?"

This shuts him up. He no longer has words.

"Avery you can go die in a hole you whore." Ouch, words from Lily again.

"Come on guys." Jonah ushers them. Lily, and Gwen follow him about halfway across the court until they turn around.

"Riker, come on!" Lily demands of him.

He just stays staring at me. He opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off.

"Go, I don't want to hear it."

He shuts his mouth and sighs as he leaves with the rest.

I fall to the ground underneath a basketball hoop, and cry.

I'll never see them the way I did before. No more secrets, no more fun.

Just me, alone and empty.
