"Katrina Hartley!" her mother shouted "Get down here right now!"
"OK!" she replied.
Jane was always like this in the morning. Moody, depressed, tired and it's nothing new to Katrina it's all because her mother is out all night and arrives home in the early hours of the morning when it's still dark! This does annoy Katrina but she's learnt that she just needs to make sure Jane has got a key and the porch light is left on so when she's drunk she can see where shes going. She's not an alcoholic or anything she just likes to go out to clubs and discos a lot, where there's always the chance of some dodgy guy spiking your drink Katrina always thought.
"KATRINA!!!" she screamed.
"I'M COMING" Katrina screamed back.
She ran down the stairs, slided round the corner and slipped on the laminate floor. Finally she made it to the kitchen.
"Number one, get your breakfast. Number two, go and wake your brother. Number three, get me some paracetamol and Number four, when you get in from school do your homework and your ironing." Jane said.
"Whatever. You know i do that everyday anyway so I don't even know why your telling me." She replied.
Katrina sat down at the table and poured some milk into her bowl of cereal, managing to spill it on the table as well. She sat and stared out of the window, at the quiet hills of Silver Dew. Katrina's house was one of the biggest and expensive in the town. It was on top of a small hill which when you sat in the kitchen and looked out of the sliding patio doors you could see the rest of the hills reaching out for miles. Katrina finished her breakfast and went to wake her brother Mark. His room stunk of Lynx and a pile of dirty clothes sat in the corner by the wardrobe.
"Wake up Mark... Mark it's time for school.... MARK get your lazy arse out of bed and get ready for school!" She yelled. On the way out she picked up one of his manky trainers and threw it at him.
"Alright, alright I'm up now." He said.
She went to the bathroom and brushed her teeth, her perfect white teeth. Katrina never liked to boast but she was extremely pretty, and she knew it. Her teeth all lined up together, all the perfect size, her eyes the prettiest color of blue mixing with a browny red creating a unique purplish color. She picked up her comb and brushed it through her long blonde hair. Lastly she took her pink lipgloss and carefully brushed it over her perfectly shaped lips. Some thought she was stupid just because she was pretty but really she was in top set for everything at school she got really high grades and worked very hard on things like projects and homework. Then again some called her a nerd but she didn't care she just replied with
"Actually I just prefer the term smarter than you."
When she had all her books together she headed out the front door and down the road to Silver Dew high school.
