My Love

1. My Love

How can love be sweet like a summer's day,

When it will always leave a bitter taste?

Capturing and blinding mystified prey,

Defeating mesmerised loves in the chase.

Strangling the heart in its icy grip,

Haunting each hushed step for eternity,

A soulless shadow will make the tongue slip,

Lies of beauty will drown without mercy.

Why do we torture ourselves with this beast?

Entrancing fools by thoughts of devotion,

None shall escape without way of release,

Like others, a merciless emotion.

Love can be mistaken for the above,

But not life or death can defy my love.
