I had butterflies in my stomach, I was so nervous I almost couldn’t believe it. Me, Greyson Chance, the boy who can sing in from of hundreds of people, but gets butterflies before going on a date? Well you’d understand if you saw Beth, she is the most amazing girl I have ever known and now she’s mine. I headed to the sitting room, my heart racing face. “How do I look, mom?” I asked, scratching the back of my neck. “Greyson, you don’t need to look perfect, she’ll like you just the same” My mom told me. “I know, I’m just so nervous. It’s my first proper date” I told her, staring at the ground. “It will be fine, just act yourself. You’ve known Beth for years, just calm down” She gave me a hug. “I’ll be back later” I told my mom, kissing her cheek. “Don’t be late, hate fun sweetie” She said, smiling at me. “I won’t be late mom” I laughed before heading out of the door.
“Could you get anymore beautiful?” I asked, as Beth opened the front door. The butterflies getting worse in my stomach. She looked absolutely stunning, in a black dress with red flowers. I took hold of her hand, entwining our fingers. “Probably not” She blushed a little. I was taking her to the local café; I didn’t want to make a massive fuss and dress up all fancy. Plus, it was karaoke night so if gave me a chance to sing a song for her. We took a slow walk to the café; it was only about a 10 minute walk. I opened the door, letting Beth walk in first, following her straight after. I let her choose where we sat, and as a gentleman, I pulled the seat out for her, before sitting down myself. I just stared into her beautiful eyes for a while, neither of us saying a word. “Karaoke night?” Beth asked, raising an eyebrow. A girl had gone onto the stage and started singing, badly I should add, Justin Bieber – Baby. “I thought it would be fun” I shrugged. I took hold of her hand, from across the table, grazing my thumb against the back of her hand. “Well all that matters is I’m here with you” Her smile made me melt inside. “All I want is to be with you, nothing else” I told her, staring into her gorgeous aqua coloured eyes. I leaned across the table and pressed my lips to hers. The girl, trying to sing, let out a squeal, which made Beth pull away with laughter. “Told you it would be fun” I told her, laughing myself. “Does she think she can sing or something?” She asked, laughing so much, tears started to form in her eyes. “I’ll just leave you to calm down” I said, walking over to the counter. “Can I have two cokes please?” I asked, handing the correct money to the man over to counter. He poured two cokes, handing them to me. “Thanks” I said, before quickly heading back over to Beth. “Here, beautiful” I said, handing her a glass. “Thanks gorgeous” She smiled.
Beth and I just sat talking, laughing and joking for about an hour, when I decided it was my turn to sing. I got up from my seat. “Where are going?” She asked, her eyes looking slightly worried. “Chill, you’ll see” I said, pecking her lips before heading over to the karaoke stage. “I’d like to sing Stranded, please” I smiled at the guy. “And who would that be sung by?” He asked, flicking through the songs. “Um, me?” I responded. “I mean the artist” He sighed, as if I was stupid. It was by me. “Greyson Chance” I said, that was weird, most people knew who I was here in Oklahoma. “Go on then, sing. Well if you can” He sighed. I got on the stage. “I’d like to dedicate this song to my girlfriend” I said, winking at Beth. The familiar music started playing; I stared at Beth the whole time I sang the song.
‘Sat there on the dock with both my feet grazing the water…’
“Dude, you’re amazing. You should be like signed to a record deal” The man told me as I walked off the stage. “Right” I said, giving him an odd look. I walked back over to the table Beth was sat at, getting tackled to the ground with a hug. “You’re so freakin’ cute Greyson, don’t you ever change” She said, pressing her lips to mine. I slowly deepened the kiss, getting into the mood. “Greyson, you do realise we’re still on the floor” Beth laughed, before jumping up. “Uh, yeah I do” I blushed, getting up myself and sitting back down.
“It was fun today, Greyson” Beth said to me, as I walked her back to her house. “Of course it was, you were with me” I winked. “Dork” She said, playfully slapping my arm. I noticed a girl crying across the street, I took a closer look, only realising it to be… “Is that Milly?” I asked, looking over to the crying girl.
