The PIXAR Competition

Write a story to fit the Pixar Formula and win themed prizes!

Why do we all love Pixar films so much? ...Is it the stories that tug at our heartstrings and appeal to even the smallest of children? Is it the amazing animation and unforgettable characters that we've grown to know and love? Our answer would be: it's the magic. This kind of phenomenon is hard to describe, but "magical" is one good word for it. So where does all this magic come from then? It can be derived, quite simply, from what we'd like to call the Pixar Formula.

The Pixar Formula is a basic story-telling layout, but it's quite powerful in its own way. Every single Pixar movie can be placed quite neatly into it, so we thought it would be a great idea to have a competition where you all write your own Pixar-style stories!

This is the formula:

Once upon a time there was a ________________.

Every day, ________________.

One day _______________.

Because of that, _________________.

Until finally ________________.

How to Participate

There are no word limits here either - you can decide how you want to formulate your entry. It can be a poem, a oneshot, or a longer story!

Write a story that fits into the Pixar formulaEvery story entered into this competition must fit the formula - the wackier, the better! One example would be when Pete Docter (who directed a few Pixar movies) was thrown this formula by Jonathan Carlin, he came up with a bird who wanted to ride the subway.
