Love writing poetry as much as we do?!
Channel your inner poet
We've noticed that many movellians are talented writers AND poets, with the skills to match. We feel this deserves its own competition and knowing that you all also appreciate a worthy challenge, we'd like to announce The Poetry Project, our latest and greatest poetry-writing competition! We want to pay tribute to the poetic, lyrical, and artistic writing styles out there so just know that there is room in this competition for all different forms of poetry.
This is your chance to be creative and think outside of the usual box that defines poetry. Use your imagination and let your emotions run wild! For us, poetry is about how you feel and expressing those feelings to readers. So if you love to write poetry, share your poems with others, or want some real feedback on what you consider one of your greater poem compositions, then YOU should participate!
How to Participate
Channel your inner poet and write a new poem or completely revise a poem you've already written. Publish it as a movella and enter it into the competition by clicking the green button on the top right of this page! You may enter as many as 5 poems (max) into the competition. There's no theme so you may write on the subject of your choosing.
All forms of poetry may be included in entries - this means everything from iambic pentameter, haikus, limericks, or free verse is fair game!
You have the entire eight-week duration to join this competition, so you all should have plenty of time to find good & different ideas, write your poems, as well as edit & finalize them before the competition deadline.
Best poem will receive a hardcover copy of Ten Poems to Change your Life by Roger Housden
2nd place will receive a hardcover, illustrated copy of Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
3rd place will receive a paperback copy of Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
All winners of this competition will receive feedback on their poem/entry from the Movellas team who has a lot of experience editing, reading, and writing for publishers :-)
Multiple entries allowed (limit - 5)
No co-author entries
You may not update your entry/movella once the competition deadline has passed.
You may not use the same movella in future competitions.
You may not use a movella that has already been published in other competitions.
Good luck in your writing poets!
The competition ends on April 1st, 2016 (18:00 PST)
