Tape - Have You Heard?

Have you heard about Tape, the breathtaking debut from Steven Camden?  It's inspired another writing competition!

Tape hits the shops on the 30th of January in the UK and has created a buzz already. Steven Camden, a.k.a spoken word poet Polarbear, tells a stunning story. It’s written with cracking prose, shimmering with humour and devastatingly moving. Tape will haunt anyone who reads it.

In 1993, Ryan records a diary on an old tape. He talks about his mother’s death, about his dreams, about his love for a new girl at school who doesn’t even know he exists.

In 2013, Ameliah moves in with her grandmother after her parents die. There, she finds a tape in the spare room. A tape with a boy’s voice on it – a voice she can’t quite hear, but which seems to be speaking to her.

Ryan and Ameliah are connected by more than just a tape.

Read the beginning here!  Or watch Steven Camden himself intorduce it here!

Ryan and Ameliah are connected over a 20 year gap through a cassette tape so this competition will focus on vintage objects.  Write a short story of no more than 3,000 words where a vintage/old object plays an important role.

One winner will receive a signed copy of Tape and feedback from Steven Camden himself!

Two runners up will also receive a signed copy of Tape.

And while you're thinking of your object, why not join our Tape bookclub!
