Level Up: Gaming Stories

You might have noticed that games and storytelling are becoming more and more intertwined - get ready to step that process up a gear.

Think about the last game you played - Halo, Assassin's Creed, Mario or Call of Duty... there were probably characters, right? A central character, some friends and enemies, maybe a love interest? Probably there was an introduction, lots of action, and then a pretty neat conclusion - kind of like a beginning a middle and an end, right? There might even have been an engaging plot. Who knows, there might have been a whole story embedded in the game!

Do you see where we are going with this?

The most successful games now are often the ones with the best story. We are even seeing incredibly talented writers teaming up with games designers to produce awesome results.

To give everyone a chance of getting involved in this with any game they enjoy playing, whether that is Sonic or Angry Birds, Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft, we are accepting entries into the first ever (as far as we can tell...) Gaming Fan Fiction writing contest!

Level 1: If you haven't already, sign up to Movellas.

Level 2: Create a new movella set in the world of your favourite game.

Level 3: Enter it into the contest with the big green button in the top right of the screen.

Level 4: Start immersing yourself into Movellas, offering feedback and watching people like and favourite your story.

Level 5: Win.. hopefully! The three best stories from the US and the UK will all win copies of the incredible Art of Halo, Art of Dead Space and Art of Assassin's Creed, courtesy of Titan Books, and awesome gaming headsets will also be given away by SteelSeries to three non-UK and non-US entrants, as well as the top UK and US entrants.

As well as this, we are introducing a gaming element of our own into the contest: there is going to be a "Story Leaderboard" that we will release after the first week and update every few days. It will record the amount of entries each game totals (although max 1 entry per game per user) and encourage you to get behind your favourite game and share the contest with your fellow gamers.
