Trailer Making Contest

You were all being so creative with trailers and artwork, we thought you were owed some incredible prizes!

 

The lovely people at www.mykindabooks.com have teamed up with us to bring you a competition with a twist. Create a What’s Up With Jody Barton? book trailer and be in with a chance to win an all expenses paid lunch with the author!



So, what do I have to do?

Start by reading our exctract of What’s Up With Jody Barton? and discover the MEGA twist. Or at least read the blurb, you have to know what the story is about after all!


Then get your creative cap on and make your own book trailer based on the story – all we ask is that you don’t reveal the twist (tricky when you know what it is!) The videos should be no longer than 30 seconds and you must get permission from anyone featuring in the video and for any music and footage used (stick to the YouTube guidelines!)

 

Once its made and you have uploaded it to YouTube it is time to create a movella. Just write a short chapter saying that the movella is for this contest with your trailer as attached multimedia. Then click the BIG GREEN BUTTON in the top right hand of this screen to enter it into the competition. We will create a shortlist from the movellas with the most likes and then author Hayley Long, her editor and the Movellas team will then select the winner.
 

 

Prizes

  • The winner will be invited to an all expenses paid slap up lunch with Hayley Long where they will get the opportunity to quiz her for writing tips and advice.
  • They will also get to interview her for the Movellas website!
  • The winner and the two runners-up will also each receive £50 worth of books from Pan Macmillan.

 

 

 

Movellians, now is the time to get creative!

 

 

The meeting will take place in London, so has to be a UK based contestant. But second and third prize are open to anyone from anywhere.

Just to let you know that after the competition ended I have been keeping track of all your amazing work and just wanted to let you know that it is awesome!! :) :) :)

    Lou :3Well, that might be the case, but it is still far from the prize we were promised, and even though I can live without the real prize, it's the way we're treated that bothers me. They obviously do not care. It could, if I were to be very cheeky, be compared to you being promised to meet Hayley Long, but when you showed up, it was really Jordan's great aunt Bertha. I have received the book now, though, and have to say I will probably enjoy reading it. :) and I am of course glad you had a great meeting with Hayley, it's Movellas I'm annoyed with, not you Becky, I quite like you! :)

I got an email asking me to give them my address so they could send me the prize and work out where we would meet but I've had nothing since then! :) wanted to say something but didnt want to sound too impatient they are probably sorting it!! I resent my reply email though just in case they didnt get it... Let me know when you hear!!

    Becky1798Nor today!!! sems as though it is gonna be one of the long competitions to judge which is ludicrous considering the number of entrants!!
    Lou :3Well, I just noticed that it's the author herself as well as her editor who judges the competition, so they will probably need to fit it in with their schedule. :)
    Becky1798That is very true I will ask her whether she knows when they will be judging it!!
    Silent MelodyOh, that explains a lot! But I still hope that they have time for it :) I mean, combined it will only take 2,30 minutes to see all entries, and it can't take that long to make a decision about which one was best :)
