1. I'm Fine.
My eyes slowly fluttered open adjusting to the bright light flooding in through the window. I clicked the lock button on my phone "11:00am already?" I mumbled to myself. "Delanie! Delanie are you up!? You need to be at the airport in an hour!" my mother frantically yelled from the kitchen. "coming! I just need to change!" I yelled back. I gathered my bag, phone, headphones, blanket and pillow for the long plane ride to london. My friend's aunt lived there and we would be staying with her for a month. "BZZZZ....BZZZZ" my phone buzzed and lit up on the ground. "1 new message from Skye my best friend ever!" I quickly opened the message reading it aloud to myself. "ready for the 8 hour flight? I know I am...:/ we will have fun what ever!" I laughed to myself and sent a quick "see you in a few xx" back. I sprinted down the stairs into the kitchen where my mother was perched eating an apple sitting next to a plate full of fruit and pancakes that had my name all over it. Right on que my stomach growled and sent my mums head snapping up to look at me. She stepped off her stool and hugged me. I squirmed out of her embrace and sprinted to my food. I dove right in shoving my mouth full of my favorites from strawberries to peaches. Once finished my mother ushered me to my room so I could brush my hair, wash my face, brush my teeth and apply a small amount of make up on my face. I looked in the mirror styling my long straight brown hair in a messy bun on top of my head. I finished the last of my make up application with a small amount of mascara on my black eyelashes highlighting my blue-green eyes. I admired my make up job for a quick few seconds from my light pink pouty lips to my nose which my mother had always told me "added character" but to me it was just another flaw on my imperfect body. I swiftly turned to my door when it creaked open. A small face popped in and all of a sudden I was on the ground being tackled by my older sister and brother. They yelled about how much they'd miss me and about what they would do to hurt any boy I brought home with me. I shrugged and laughed it off knowing I wouldn't meet anyone that quickly. They jumped off me and offered a hand to help me up. I took it and slowly rose to my feet only to be greeted by my mother running in the room throwing a quick kiss on my cheek then literally pushing me out to the car. The car ride was mostly silent with some background music of the radio. I enjoyed my mothers company for the last time I will see her for a whole month. We arrived at the airport about 10 minutes earlier than Skye and my mother refused to leave me until Skye got there. Skye arrived at 12:50 and we headed off to check in our bags then security. We grabbed our items and slipped on our shoes while briskly walking to our gate. "Are you excited!?" Skye's chipper voice rang in my ears with excitement. "Of course I am! I would ask you the same but I can already tell!" I giggled. We small talked about the first thing we would do when we got there. I suggested sleep but Skye on the other hand was picking out breakfast places we could visit in the morning. "Everyone boarding flight 286 to London will be boarding momentarily." the flight attendants voice rang throughout the airport. 'This is it!' I thought to myself.
"What seat are you?" Skye slid into the chair next to me. "Erm...15C." I said precisely, "you?" Skye's face drooped with sadness "23D..." I wouldn't even be seated with my best friend? I thought our moms bought the tickets together to ensure that we would sit with eachother. Anger started to bubble up inside me along with fear. I hated plan rides. I don't know why but ever since I was little I always have. My family knows I cant sit with strangers on the plane or else I freak out! What is wrong with them! "it's alright! We will figure it out!" Skye's voice broke into my thoughts. Whew she's right... I will be fine. I took 3 deep reassuring breaths before I slapped on a smile and headed toward the door leading to board our plane.
