1. Preface.
The Darkness was coming. Smothering the path in a timid flurry of minutes, let alone the painfully enduring seconds it was fast…faster than ever before, which made it also radically indifferent.
Was the fire going to be too much?
Was it going to rip into her, clenching at her unbeaten, fervent soul that waited to be chewed upon?
Maybe so.
But the Darkness was what she’d been waiting for all these years…why know did the gut-wrenching pang bite along the insides of her stomach? Why know did that disconcerting shiver tremble erratically across her convulsing spine? And why know, when after she’d looked into his eyes for that last time…did she realise she truly loved him? Blair bit her lip hard, uncurling the sweating fingers that were latched to her chest, closing her eyes in a dignified panic. She was ready to be taken.
Taken away from the world: for the very last time.
As the clock ticked irrationally- pounding in her brain, she thought of his last heart aching words, his beautiful sombre face…waiting for the Darkness to engulf her in forgotten flames.
