When I opened my eyes, I saw we had just pulled up at the place. I stretched and smiled. In my sleep I had tangled up with the seatbelt and ended up lying across the seat on top of Danté. I looked up into his eyes and grinned.
"Sorry Danté." I apologised.
He laughed. "I don't mind. So are you gonna show me around then?"
"Sure. Welcome to Greystown Manor, In which my Mother's family, the Carrol's, own. Mum, Dad, I'm gonna show Danté around is that alright? I'll help with the luggage after."
"That's grand pet, take your time." Dad laughed.
I got out of the car and stretched again. He laughed and did the same. I studied our surroundings. We were in front of the large white mansion, the grand doors wide open.
"Looks like Aunt Agnetta got here first." I said pointing to her seven-seater blue Ford Gallaxy.
"Cool." He smiled.
I took Danté's hand and led him through the doors. I showed him around every large room from the dining room and the living rooms to the bedrooms and en-suits.
"Now, our family has had this manor through generations. Realistically, our lives would be a lot more grand and rich if we got rid of it. But our family's unusual, and they understand the need to preserve history." I grinned. "However, they also like to mix the old with the new. So instead of saving money for the future, et cetra, they added a big extension at the back, when Agnetta won the lottery. So I now show you the pool room."
I opened the door to the room where the swimming pool was filled up, and the sauna room, jacuzzi and towel wardrobe were next to it. He gaped.
"Er..... wow." He said, awed at the huge pool. "Erm, so does anyone actually live here, for the upkeep."
"Yep. Agnetta has hired gardeners and house keepers and stuff, and our Uncle Paul, Mum's brother, lives here with his family, all paid for by Agnetta. He's on holiday at the moment. He's thinking about moving out actually. He only has one daughter, Poppy. Spoilt brat. She's an ITCH, if you know what I mean."
I sat on one of the loungers and patted to the one next to me for Danté. "She actually got on quite well with Helen the last time we were here. Thank God Paul's on holiday."
"Hmmm, I could well believe it being brought up in a mansion. So how come you didn't get to live here too?"
"Agnetta offered. But Dad wanted us to make our own way in the world, and rightly too. And before you ask, Agnetta lives in a modern mansion elsewhere, since she won the lottery."
Just then the Agnetta Clan came into the pool room.
"Charlie! Brianna! Bronwyn-Anne! It's been ages!" I squealed, hugging the three girls. Or rather, two girls and a woman. Charlie was now 24, ten years older than I. "Where were you guys?! I was surprised I didn't bump into you while I was showing Danté around."
Charlie laughed. "We were visiting the horses! I haven't seen Chesnut-Rose in ages! And who is this handsome fella you've got with you this time?"
Introductions were made, then I took Danté to the gardens and stables.
"They seem nice." He mused.
I showed him the horses, then took the luggage, then showed him to our bedroom. We started to unpack, then made our way to the huge dining room for our food.
"I thought you said it was camping?" Danté asked on the stairs. We had a top floor (the third) bedroom.
"Yeah, we nickname it that." I giggled.
When we sat down to our huge feast, I couldn't but feel a bubbling excitement in me. I had a feeling this was going to be the best week away ever.
