I looked at him. As if to say "are you for real?". I had been to loads of these! They were held once a month and I always came home with lots of new books.
I laughed and said "You rummage through the books, find the kind you like and pay a small amount of money say 20p to buy it. And you can talk to people who have the same interest in books as you."
Louis pretended to yawn, a really big and wide yawn. I pushed him out into the open and he came running back to the cover of the big trees. I rolled my eyes. This boy was officially a wimp, a coward, adorable. I grabbed his wrist and yanked him over to a table clustered with classic books. I already had most of them but you could get rare collectors editions and the only place to find them was here. I caught a glimpse of an almost new copy of Anne of Green Gables, my all time favourite book. I squealed and picked up about fifteen books and handed them to Louis.
"Here, hold these..." I said not really paying attention if he caught them or not. I turned around to give him more books and found he had dumped the last lot and had found the refreshment tent. I laughed as I saw him scoff down a huge piece of Victoria Spongge before taking two plates of chocolate fudge cake, and two cans of coke. I sighed. I had my hands on the raest edition of my favourite book. I looked at it fondly, I had been wanting this copy for several years and this would be the perfect why to get into the summer spirit. Louis met me by the table.
"So you got the book?" He asked leaning down to take a bite of cake. When his face remerged from the bowl, all I could see was a gooey chocolatey mess. I stared, gobsmacked, my face covered in disbelief. The he pushed my face into the other bowl. I tried to scream in protest but before I could say anything my face was covered too. We laughed our heads off, people giving us strange looks. That was when I saw my dad.
"Back to the trees!" I whispered urgently whipping round, not caring if Louis was with me or not. I still had the book clasped to my chest as my dad walked past the very spot we were stood. I tried to breathe again once he had passed but he was heading towards the trees. My sticky face felt as if someone had just hit me. I rummaged through my bag quickly. I had to clean myself up before he saw me. What would he think! I found some tissues and started scraping the chocolate goo off onto the grass. My dad was getting nearer. I was clean. I could talk to him! I couldn't say the same about Louis, but you know! My dad just passed us with a nod of his head although his eyes popped when he saw Louis, he shook his head and muttered under his breath just loud enough for us to hear.
"What on earth will be next. At least Marilla shouldn't get any prosperous ideas!" With that we sighed and decided it was time to head home. Our own homes.
