Someone Like You

1. Someone Like You

I feel like I’ve been watching life

rush by from the outside in,

Wanting to be a part and not apart from it

and this is no different.

One look from you

and my heart took flight,

But someone like you

will never love someone like me,

So I must love you from afar

and watch from the side-lines,

Dreaming of the perfect romance

in a perfect world.

I feel like a school girl again

reading all those silly books

and reliving all those silly dreams.

We’ve only ever been together in my mind

and there’s a bittersweet taste in my mouth.

I know I’m chasing a dream

that just won’t come true;

But I’m still hoping a fool’s hope,

Though I know that someone like you

will never love someone like me

There’s no such thing as the perfect romance

this is not a perfect world.

Someone like you

will never love someone like me
