Marred

1. Marred

Fortified walls have encased my heart
Thick walls made of steel
For it has been ripped apart
Much too severely to be healed.

I’m no longer whole
I’ve lost all control
Darkness envelopes my soul.
This suffering has taken its toll

My heart has been marred
My heart has been scarred
Things couldn’t get much worse
How cruel is this fate
I can’t help but hate
For on my soul resides a curse.

At night I cry myself to sleep
No longer can I bear the pain
My wounds are cut entirely too deep
The hurt on my soul poured down like the rain.

I just want to scream
Why can’t this all be a dream?
Why don’t you take my last breath
And grant me my death

My heart has been marred
My heart has been scarred
Things couldn’t get much worse
How cruel is this fate
I can’t help but hate
For on my soul resides a curse.

My world has turned grey
My heart’s gone astray
I am drowning in despair
My heart has been marred
My heart has been scarred
My heart is beyond repair

So many words left unspoken
Has left me marred and broken.
