1. The end
Serena inhaled the salty smell of the ocean.
She had actually found it. The perfect beach.
Serena smiled. This beach was exactly like the one she had imagined whenever her mother had descibed one.
Everything was perfect. The setting sun made the sea sparkle and shine and the sand felt soft under her feet.
Serena was happy.
And she knew her mother would have been proud of her. Proud of the decisions she had been forced to make for herself.
She took another deep breath and took a small step forward, beginning the long walk to the ocean.
The long walk to where she would die.
