Pretending to be Country

Mudding in a 31-year-old Chevy

She pulled into her grandpa's farm and drove down an extremely bumpy and slightly muddy road that runs behind the farm, this is when the day got fun...

You don't really know the fun of driving down a bumpy road really fast and getting sprayed with mud until you've done it. We drove down the road screaming the words to Sam Hunt's Body Like a Backroad and random Luke Bryan songs with the windows down. At one point a branch came into the window and smacked me in the face, a piece of it broke off into my hair. We couldn't breathe we were laughing so hard.

My best friend is 100% a country girl. She lives in the middle of nowhere in some small town no one's ever heard of, you blink once and you're through it. She used to take horse back riding for many years and now works on a farm. I'm the total opposite, city girl all the way. I grew up in a subdivision and go to school with people who grew up in a subdivision. I can walk everywhere I want to go (If I actually leave my house). I have taken dance lessons since I was three and have never played any other sports.

This weekend my mom and I went up to visit them in the middle of who know's where, while I was there I went mudding in a thirty-one-year-old Chevrolet pick up truck, I jammed to country music, hung out at a farm and ended the day with a bonfire. Not my usual day, which usually consists of watching That 70s Show and YouTube videos.

The day started the way a typical day would start with us; Tim Hortons for breakfast. On the way into town to go to Timmie's she handed me the aux and I found some country music that I only have on my phone because my mom downloaded. Her truck is thirty-one years old, that's freaking old man. At first, I had a lot of trouble getting into it, it doesn't have a step to step up into the truck and there was no handle on the roof to pull myself in. The entire inside was so old I would not know how to drive it if I tried.

After a delicious sausage breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and a creamy chocolate chill, we headed to the zoo. We spent about hour trying to find the zoo with no luck, the directions had no idea where the zoo was (thanks google). Instead of continuing to attempt to find the zoo we decided to head to the mall, not very 'country' I know. I spent $30 on a Guns N' Roses hat, a little ridiculous for a baseball hat but that's American Eagle for you.

After a few hours at the mall, we headed to Baskin Robins for some cookie dough ice cream. We made the stupid decision to eat while driving which resulted in my friend spilling her ice cream all over herself. On the way back to her house she told me we were going to take a little detour, not knowing what she meant I agreed.

After we drove down the road to the end and back we pulled into the farm (to make sure the truck was fine). We hung out at the farm for a little while before heading back home where she changed out of her ice cream stained clothes and I washed the mud off my leg.

We later went to watch our moms play baseball in their tournament. We had to park three different times; the first time we were in the spot where all the fly balls go, the second time a group of people were staring at us and pointing while we parked making us extremely uncomfortable so we went somewhere else where we finally parked the old truck.

Later that night we had a bonfire where we drank and laughed until the later hour of 11:00. We went to bed early since she had to wake up a 5:30 to go to work and I had had a lot of late nights the nights before.

It was an extremely fun day pretending to be country. I would definitely say it is better than sitting around watching That 70's Show, although that is fun.
